I'd probably try to transition her before the baaby comes, if it doesn't work, i'd use the bassinet for 3 months and then the pack and play for DC#2 until DD is in the big girl bed. As you said, she is 2.5, so it wouldn't be that much longer... I think they even sell mattresses that fit in the pack and play, so maybe I'd look into that.

We have the mattress for the pack n play we've tried it was a nightmare..I"m terrified it's going to be the same..
Although today I asked her if she wanted a big girl bed, and she got very excited about the notion, although g-d knows how she'll react when she realizes that she doesn't have the choice of her crib anymore
