WWYD Neighbors (kinda long)
Hi everyone! This is my first time posting on this board, and I just need to vent. Also, what would you do? (kinda long)
Background: I moved to my new house in the beginning of the year.
During the summer, a neighbor had a networking type of party, and I was not invited. I figured she probably forgot or thought she mailed one and I didn't respond.
Fast forward to tonight, I found out that the former family that lived here told everyone within the surrounding houses not to become friends with me and my husband or step foot in the house since they are no longer here. I also found out that the former wife was invited to the networking party, and she attended. Hence, why I was not invited.
Now, the neighbor who did not invite me to the party is having another party, but this time invited me and my husband. She also asked my husband to do some work for her friend a few days ago.
Now I think she's only inviting us because of my husband, not because she wants to be friendly towards me. It just seems fake. Should I still attend her party or pass?
TIA

Re: WWYD Neighbors (kinda long)
Why would the previous owner say something like that???? Why does she care if your neighbors become friends with you? Weird.

Well, they really didn't want to move and were bitter. They could not afford the payments anymore. What bothers me is that the neighbor with the parties acts friendly towards me and even gave us a welcoming gift, but she didn't invite me to her party, which makes me wonder her true intentions of the next party. I don't know- I am just annoyed.

I would go to the party!
You then can decide if you want to be friends with her.

Re: WWYD Neighbors (kinda long)
Thank you for the replies. My husband thinks I should go to the party. While it does seem like HS, this is a 30-40 something group of people. It's one thing to make a comment like that to the neighbors, but to actually feed into it and act that way towards me and my husband is ridiculous. I guess that's what makes me more upset.

I would go, and meet your other neighbors. Let them be the judge of whether they should be friends with you or not.
Very weird that people in the neighborhood would feel compelled to listen to this woman. How did you find out about this woman telling everyone not to hang out with you?
Go and have fun!

I would go.
After the last party where you were the only ones not invited, she may have rethought her guest list & realized how utterly ridiculous the former neighbor was acting with her request.

Re: WWYD Neighbors (kinda long)
It sounds to me like when the first party came around your neighbor invited an old friend/neighbor, and out of respect for her friend (since she had hard feelings about having to move), she didn't include you because it might bother her friend to see you.
Since then, it sounds like she's been friendly, and she invited you. Her friend is probably not going to be at this one, or she's over her hard feelings about moving. I wouldn't make such a big deal over it - just go, have fun, and get to know your neighbors.

Re: WWYD Neighbors (kinda long)
People are nuts. The people across the street were best friends with the old homeowners. They haven't said anything since we moved in October of 05. The people that live next door are trashy and are like cling ons If I see them outside she comes over and talks to me. I never go over there I feel like the neighbors don't talk to us cause they see her talking to me
BUT anyway... if I were invited to a party I would GO. I would let people see I am not what they think
