WWYD re: babysitting?

We have a party to go to on Long Island. I was trying to find a babysitter to watch Riley at home in NJ. She does much better in her own bed, in her own room.

Would we be crazy to drive an hour & a half away to a party, and leave her here with a sitter, and come back?

Or, would it make more sense to bring her with us to LI, and have someone babysit her there, then drive home?

I would have a babysitter come to your house in NJ. DS is always more comfy at home in his crib too.

Even though we're not close enough to rush home in case of an emergency? It's crazy how that didn't even occur to me either...then my sister brings up this option and I suddenly feel horribly guilty...Chat Icon

The other reason I like having her stay in NJ is we will likely have someone from daycare watch her, so at least she knows this person. The babysitter on Saturday would be a stranger.

Re: WWYD re: babysitting?

I really think I'd get a sitter and leave her at home, T. I think most little ones will becomfortable in their own space, and the sitter will have everything she needs; you won't have to stress yourselves out bringing food and bottles and diapers/wipes, and 3 million other things for a day out!
As long as she's healthy the day of the event, I'd have no problem getting the sitter for the day at our place!!!

Tara - I agree with Ive.

She's more comfortable at home, and this way, you don't have to pack her up, her things up, etc... go to your party and then disrupt her sleeping to bring her home and put her back to sleep. I think it will be alot less stressful to keep her at home.

I agree...it is SOOO much easier when they are more comfy with their surroundings...and easier on you..not having to pack a bag and all!

If there was an emergency (god forbid)...NJ is THAT far! =) Youll have more fun not worrying about where she is and if she is ok falling asleep somewhere else!

I think Riley is better off at her house with her things and someone she knows. Besides if you are going relatively late in the day, then there isn't much for the babysitter to do anyway. I definitely think Riley will be better with someone she is familiar with.

Thanks for supporting me! Chat Icon For some reason, when my 'elders' suggest otherwise, I start to feel like I'm completely incompetent. Or that I have to relax/be more flexible or something. Ugh. Whatever, those are my issues.Chat Icon
