the basement is 1600 sq. ft. we want to use it as a family room/playroom and we also need an area for 3-4 pieces of exercise equiptment. would you do seperate rooms or leave one large room and just section it out without walls? thanks!

I would section off the gym and really make it a gym. You can use glass french doors so you still get that open space feel and light. I prefer it separate also for safety concerns so the kids won't be playing with or near the equipment.

I'd leave it all open, it will be less expensive

I would try to separate it some way... even if its a half wall... deter the kids from playing with the equipment, you can still see over it if they are playing when you are on it, and its also hides it a little!
