Babysitter. It sounds like your DH really wants to do this and could use your support. Plus it would only be overnight right? I think you can do it

I would turn this one down. And can I add....never take the baby out of the carseat to calm them down because you are giving them the hope they will get out I usually stroke my sons head from the front seat. If they get really bad I jump in the back and entertain them for a while

Re: WWYD regarding long roadtrip with infant? (LONG)
also - some kids hate the infant seat and do better in a convertable - can you get one of those and try it out around town if he does better
we try to leave around naps - can you leave when he should go to sleep for the night
i would either get a babysitter or take him - you should be there for your dh

I would drive at night.
leave at 7ish. sit in the back for a bit (if you weren't doing that) until ds falls asleep.
this way your son's comfort is taken care of and your dh has your support.

I completely agree with this. I am a big family girl so I really think he NEEDS to go if he has any chance of reconnecting with his brother

Re: WWYD regarding long roadtrip with infant? (LONG...with poll)
My question is knowing how hard it was last raod trip, what is your DH feeling on putting your DC through a long roadtrip? Would he understand if u didnt go? I probably wouldn't go. (But if you drive, I suggest, leaving an hour after your DC goes to bed and drive) hopefully will sleep for the majority of it. I flew wth DS at 3 mos and draw at 4 mos to VA Beach area and found that doing it once they are asleep was the best, and I don't know if you sit in the back currently, but I would suggest not sitting back there in the begining of the trip, if I am in back with my DD she just cries to get out so I avoid sitting in back. My DS was like this also.

Re: WWYD regarding long roadtrip with infant? (LONG...with poll)
Its possible that that DS might do better in the car now that he's older.
I would NOT leave my 3.5 month old home with a sitter if I was EBF. But I'm crazy protective of my supply when I'm nursing. 3.5 months is still too early in the breastfeeding game to mess around like that, I feel.
I'd probably go and bring DS if I thought he might do better (how is he in the car now?) or just stay home with DS.

Babies change a lot in 2 months, how is he in the car now on short trips? Maybe this weekend or something you can try driving somewhere that is a bit further away than he's used to and see how he does. I also agree with Jess and think if you leave at night so your DS can sleep that will be better. I would definitely go as a family to the wedding.

Drive at night when he's ready to go to sleep for the night, do whatever your normal routine is, BF him in the car maybe in your driveway, put him in his seat, sit in the back with him and he'll fall asleep. Hopefully he sleeps the whole time. Good Luck!

Re: WWYD regarding long roadtrip with infant? (LONG...with poll)
ok dina this is rough. first...i cant believe mark is getting married! i think its good that mark and evan want to make ammends, but has mark apologized to you (and evan) for everything he's done to you guys?? has he specifically said he wants to see adam? i would be really hesitant to go considering what happened, BUT it is a good thing to move on and let the brothers reconnect, especially since you both have children now. i know how bad your last road trip was, so maybe evan can go with melanie. but im sure he really wants you to go and introduce adam to mark.
ok so im absolutely no help!! let me know what you guys decide to do!

Re: WWYD regarding long roadtrip with infant? (LONG...with poll)
We just drove to Florida with DD who just turned 5 months today! We drove stright thru too..It was rough and we will not do that again. Actually she was good. It was rough on us..We put a carseat toy across it so she had something to entertain her. Anyway we left at 2:00 Am and she slept a lot. I also would not stop at every exit because he will no all he has to do is scream..lol.. DD did this on the way home and we just tried entertaining her, sitting in the back with her and playing with lots of toys. She eventually stopped. We also put the Carseat in the middle of the back seat to keep her away from the sun and also had sunshades in the back window and side. Anyway I would go and try driving at night which may help DS. Also when you stop to feed let him lay in the back seat for a stretch and maybe rub his legs, butt and back in case he is uncomfortable. Good Luck!

I voted stay home and let DH go, however, if your DH is willing to break up the trip, then I'd definitley do that!
