Re: wwyd...baptism related
not necessary. i had beer, wine, soda and seltzer. we had one bottle of liquor that we know is my fil's favorite. that's the only reason we had any liquor.

Re: wwyd...baptism related
IMO a baptism does not need liquor. Even no alcohol at all is fine. While it's a celebration it's not really a party for people to get drunk at IMO.

Re: wwyd...baptism related
where are u having the party?
after DS's Christening, we had lunch at a restaurant. we included soft drinks with the cost pp but left liquor as an open-bar thing. we figured since it was sunday, not everyone would find the need to "pound them back" at noon.
it worked for us and no one seemed to be put off by it.

Re: wwyd...baptism related
We're having beer, wine, iced tea, lemonade and water. I wanted something the kids could drink, and something "adult" but I didn't feel it was necessary to do a full bar...
But I think it's what your own personal preferences are and what you know your guests/family enjoy...
ETA - our party starts as 12noon as well...

Re: wwyd...baptism related
I am having the party at a restaurant, where my brother works. He recommended that we do an open tab, rather than a price pp for even jsut beer and wine. He said for this type of a party, it usually ends up cheaper that way. My sister did her kids' Communion parties the same way and said it did work out to be a lot cheaper.
ETA: Even if you can afford it, why spend the extra $$ if people aren't going to drink that much? Get a fabulous cake instead.

Re: wwyd...baptism related
I am doing beer, wine and soda too. I had the same thoughts that you did - liquor is not necessary at a Sunday afternoon chirstening. If a guest wants liquor that bad then they can get the drink themselves.

Re: wwyd...baptism related
Both parties i only paid for soda, my guests could order anything they wanted but they had to pay for it. IMO alchohol not necessary for a sunday afternoon christening.
I come from a big loud partying family and for both my christenings, hardly any alchohol was consumed-a few beers and a couple glasses of wine.
