Xpost If you got breast pump covered by insurance through edgepark or another pharmacy please come in
Xpost - pregnancy
In case the link doesn't work (sometimes it doesn't with my Ipad) this was my post :
How did you start the process , did you just call them and they handled the rest - contacting the insurance and everything else - or did you have to deal with them AND the insurance to get it done? Which pump did you get? How far along do you "have to be" (or were you) to call them and start the whole approval process and how long did it take for them to let you know if you were approved or not? Anything you can tell me would be appreciated Thanks

I called my insurance company at 32 weeks. They said they cover a percentage and I could call Edgepark and find out which pumps would be free, cost money etc. I choose the medela freestyle which was $99 out of pocket. Since the freestyle is a $400 pump, I grabbed it. I ended up paying the $99 on the phone and received the receipt from my insurance company. I wanted to go through my insurance first in case Edgepark said I was eligible, and then sent me a huge bill. I had empire blue cross at the time.

I called Edgepark and they handled everything. I was fairly early on when I called. Maybe around 20 weeks or so. I don't remember. But I called, told them which one I wanted (Medela Freestyle) and they aid they'd contact me if it was not 100% covered. Next thing I knew it was on my doorstep.

I called edgepark pretty early (I think like 13-14 weeks) just to see what the process was like. They handled everything. Asked me for all my info, doctors info and which pump I wanted. My doctor had to sign off that the pump was 'medically necessary" or something along those lines (which they did.) A week later the pump was on my doorstep- 100% covered). I got the medela freestyle.
