Re: Yes, the people HAVE spoken
OK--but I ask this sincerely. Since we have our new leader, can we expect him to denounce the hate crimes committed in his name? To stop the vindictive tweeting? To spend time learning and studying so that, whether or not we agree with his views, we must concede that he is informed and hard working? To take back certain hateful and misinformed things that he has said with an apology to those who were hurt (from women who've had abortions to Ted Cruz's wife--and everyone in between)?
Can we be angry if these things don't happen?
I have never bashed his supporters. Most people here have not either.

Who can verify these pictures are TRUE events, not fakes or jokes? COME ON.
I definitely wouldn't call a note with hateful words on it a joke. I'm sure a lot of these are real and that's terrifying, but we also live in a world where everyone is trying to go viral. I agree that some of these stories are more than likely fake. That shouldn't take away from the ones that are true.
Exactly.
By your logic Megs- because someone falsified a rape, should we not believe all reports of rape?

So just so we are clear. The ACTUAL videos of Trump and the reporter are totally worthless because the website that posted them has "catholic" in its name and we all know we should hate catholics.
However, random photos on the internet without any source or substantiation are 100% true and further, are all Trump's fault.
Right? Just want to make sure I'm thinking the correct way after being told how to do so.
Like I posted several pages ago when someone else said that- Are you dense? The site says 4trump on it! Of course it's going to be twisted to make him not look bad. You and everyone who responded to you agreeing with you cannot possibly be that stupid.
If the website was gays4trump, asians4trump, or zebras4trump, i would say the exact same thing.

Some of them look pretty fake to me, so I am gonna guess at least one or two are.
You're delusional. Good luck to you. I hope you seek some medical attention for your illness.
Come on - and you are delusional to believe every single thing you read, especially under the circumstances of this election. The one with the toys down the middle of the room. What does that mean? Any kid could do that any day. The one with the red writing on the calendar page? Looks fake to me too. Or those both could be unrelated. The first one could be real, but could also not be. The one with the car, well sure there are crazies out there. But ALL of these accounts, no way, some will absolutely be BS. Just like the girl whose hijab was ripped off her head (now coming out as a fake story in the news)…ok…
And Should I tell you you are sick, for believing every single thing you read? This is exactly the attitude that's the problem this entire election. You can believe what you believe, but the rest of us can't?
You don't get to tell Jenn Z she's delusional. You don't get to tell her not to be afraid. She's posted it before - her husband is a brown skin muslim man. You don't get to tell her how she should feel. This impacts her DIRECTLY.
Hitler was dismissive of media too.
Thanks Mama xo
Yes, she deserves a big old pat on the back for trying to bully me and threaten me into not having an opinion of my own on a picture on the internet. By using the race card. Kudos to her.[/QUOTE
You're an ass and An embarrassment. I tried not to go low, but you've given me no choice. I hope you never have to explain to your child WHY certain people don't like his father and people like his father. I hope you never have to watch your husband come home from a night out early, because he was so fcuking uncomfortable in an establishment because people are talking about him and his people in a loud whisper. I hope you never have to worry about your husband going to work after a terrorist attack has happened and people are looking to blame The brown guy. So you know what, Fcuk you and the white horse you road in on. And if this gets me banned from this site, it was well worth it you ignorant woman.
I'm with you JennZ and your family.

Yes, the people HAVE spoken
Not all Trump supporters are racist, misogynist, xenophobes. All Trump supporters saw a racist, misogynist, xenophobe and said "this is an acceptable person to lead our country."
You may not have racist, misogynist, xenophobic intent, but you have had racist, misogynist, xenophobic impact.
Impact > intent.
So when you get called racist, misogynist, and xenophobic -- understand that your actions have enabled racism, misogyny, and xenophobia in the highest halls of our federal government, regardless of why you voted for him.
You have to own this. You don't get to escape it because your feelings are hurt that people are calling you names. You may have felt like you had no other choice; you may have felt like he was genuinely the best choice for reasons that had nothing to do with hate.
But you have to own what you have done: you have enabled racism, misogyny, and xenophobia.
Impact > intent. Always.

And would you agree Hillary supporter have to own supporting someone who is entitled, above the rules and has no respect for woman since she took donations from countries that treat woman like garbage? Or is this "privilege" argument only applicable to the people that don't share your opinion?

Yes, the people HAVE spoken
It really amazes me that everyone is claiming Trump a racist when Hillary is absolutely no better. She has called blacks super predators, went on a screaming rampage to a jewish person who worked for her, did not want to approve gay marriage when she was senator of NY, stood by her husband after multiple allegations of rape and assault and takes donations from countries that promote women as second class citizens, voted to build a wall and was adamantly against illegal immigrants. But because she changed her mind and started saying what her supporters wanted to hear, that is ok. So maybe instead of bashing Trump for sound bite that were taken from his speeches, we should be protesting against both the RNC and DNC for allowing these two to be our candidates.

but it if you voted for her, it does matter. Whether or not she was elected doesn't change the fact that people who supported her supported atrocities to women in other countries.

I think they are both some of the worst caliber of candidates ever and agree with your sentiment not necessarily the referenced incidents. Trump I have inside knowledge of his racism before he was elected and will leave it at that. One of his ex wives as well and won't name which one or the incidents for obvious reasons.

She took money from governments who torture the SAME groups that we all need to protect....how does that not put marginalized groups in danger?? Do you think it's ok that she takes funding from groups that torture women? You must if you voted for her. I know how ridiculous this sounds, but I'm attempting to show you how people view your comments about ALL trump voters. It's honestly insulting, but it's even more insulting that you can't see that we can say the same bad things about you simply by applying your logic to Hillary's actions and her supporters voting for her. But as a grown up who has enough commonsense to see that the world is not that black and white, I know people chose Hillary with good intention and had to ignore her indiscretions to do so.

Taken from goldenrod's post on another thread since he addressed the same question-
"http://www.politifact.com/arizona/statements/2016/jul/11/donald-trump/did-hillary-clinton-take-money-countries-treat-wom/
Yes, there are several Saudi countries that donated money to the Clinton Foundation, and we can argue semantics about if she accepted donations, or the charity, but I'd rather not. She's connected to the Foundation, so she's associated in some degree. I don't condone what those countries do, by any means. For better or worse, those countries are allies with us, and we do a LOT of business with them on many fronts. My company does, Trumps companies do, Coca-Cola, Cigna, Citicorp, Exxon, Boing, etc. Doesn't make it right, but it's just a terrible fact of international affairs."
It is obviously not ok but the difference is, I can admit that it was wrong of her and I believe if the electoral college did elect her, she would actively denounce any violent acts against marginalized groups. Can't say the same for trump. Additionally, the saudis are not doing these horrible acts in hillarys name whereas pretty much every hateful act against POC, non-Christians, women, and the LGBTQ community have been in Trumps name. Yet he's silent.

Thanks for responding, to be clear, I think many things he has done are wrong. And of course I never believed anyone on this board would support countries that torture innocent people. I was just trying to demonstrate who insulted i feel that someone would say I'm a racist because I voted for trump, when it couldn't be further from the truth. I don't like him, but I really dislike many her ideas. I had to make a choice, so I did.

I actually am old enough to have remembered when she originally said it. I've also recently watched it and reread it. It is a racist comment , despite her backpedaling and bogus apology for it. Please don't try to make it out to be anything but that.

So maybe instead of bashing Trump for sound bite that were taken from his speeches, we should be protesting against both the RNC and DNC for allowing these two to be our candidates.
Have you bothered to actually read the super predators quote in its context?
Yes I did.

I actually am old enough to have remembered when she originally said it. I've also recently watched it and reread it. It is a racist comment , despite her backpedaling and bogus apology for it. Please don't try to make it out to be anything but that.
Clinton — in the midst of championing her husband’s 1994 crime legislation — did use the term "superpredator" when referring to "gangs of kids." She did not specifically label superpredators as African-American, but the context of her speech and her subsequent apology decades later suggests it was a reasonable inference.

I'll say it again.., I actually was old enough to live it the first time. AND I've reread it and researched it since. . I don't need you quoting me your version of her comments. It doesn't make it more the "correct answer" just because you shove your quote and opinion of it down my throat. It was racist then and no matter what type of bow you want to wrap it in now, it's still racist.

And I believe the next part of her statement that you conveniently left out is" with no conscience, no empathy" and proceeds with "we must bring them to heel"... And no I didn't misspell it. Bring them to HEEL, not HEAL. I remember my jaw dropping back then as a teen. I'm not savvy enough to be able to post the video which I'm sure is on YouTube, but maybe someone else can, please?

Re: Yes, the people HAVE spoken
Trump won and is the president. That is true.
Just like in 2000, though, Clinton received a higher share of the popular vote, so it is certainly misleading to argue that this is what a majority of Americans wanted; however, it doesn't really matter at this point. He will be our president for 4 years.
People have every right to be upset. This is not a typical election where we dislike the opposing party's policies. This is a man who turns on a dime, often within hours, who literally cannot control himself or handle any insult, who doles out insults like candy, who has never once neglected to back off a proposal (Ban all Muslims! No, just extreme vetting. Build a wall! Oh, it was actually a metaphorical wall, people know that. Repeal Obamacare! Actually, amend Obamacare). There are ample reasons to be scared.
I know people like that he isn't a politician, and I can see that appeal. I myself like what he said about term limits, and really only a non-politician could say that. But he's not a decent man. He doesn't feel obligated to do the very basic decent things, like not insult disabled people or veterans. And every person who voted for him legitimized that. Now he is our president, the face of our country. Of course many of us are going to feel like he doesn't represent us. This is very, very different from disagreeing on policy or politics. This is about basic humanity and decency versus none. Most of us have it; he doesn't. This is why we cannot get behind him, and no amount of scolding will change that.
However, with all of that, I believe that, since he did win, he deserves a window of time when we will watch and see what he does. I am not optimistic, but I will try to be fair.
And look, how many of you scolding the anti-Trump people were bothered when McConnell said the number 1 goal of the Republicans (in 2008) was to make Obama a one-term president? Not to dig our country out of debt or help children or any of the millions of things we needed, but to get power back. If you are mad about the Trump reactions but not about those comments, then you are truly blind. I was furious, and I would think it would be incredibly unfair to do this to any president, even Trump, before he served a single day.
If it was just a Republican America? I think most of us would say ok, let's see what happens. I remember being troubled but optimistic in 2004 when GWB won reelection. I didn't agree with many of his policies but he was a good man who cared about America. An America presided over by a reality tv star, a strongman (basically anyone who says : All your problems are due to that group over there. I am the only one who can fix it), who has terrible historical precedents (including, but not limited to Hitler)? It's just not the same.
Trump supporters, enjoy your victory. You, and he, really earned it. And I honestly do hope that we are all wrong and that he will be a good president. A win for him is now a win for us all. But for many of us, we are grieving, grieving a vision of America that we thought was better than this, an America we must acknowledge doesn't completely exist.
