Yet another induction question: anyone make it through w/o epi?
So my last labor was a stubborn induction that when the Pitocin finally kicked in, the contractions were wicked and the back labor was so intense I couldn't even cry to release some pain Because it was so bad, and I was in the hospital for so long, I was pretty much told an epi would be a necessity for me to dilate and progress (or just have a c-section, which I didn't want).
So this time around, I have been given until next Wednesday to get this kid out on my own and then I will be induced.
How many of you had successful inductions AND were able to do it without an epi?

Re: Yet another induction question: anyone make it through w/o epi?
Yes. I was trying to avoid induction b/c I heard pitocin makes contractions worse and I wanted to do it without an epi as I did with #1. Then, at a regular exam, MD monitored me b/c LO's heart rate was too low. She felt the placenta was crapping out at that point b/c he was big already and it was 10 days prior to EDD. She asked me to get DH and go back to the hospital for induction. I went back and got a slight dose of pitocin at 11PM. The contractions were strong. I could see them on the monitor and a nurse would come in and comment that I had a "big one". It was a more painful labor then my first (but with that one I didn't even realize I was really in labor until it was almost too late) By 3AM (4 hrs later) I requested someone check me so I would know I was progressing. At that point I was 7-8 cm. They broke my water and I delivered him 20-minutes later after a few minutes of pushing. The most painful part of my delivery with him was that I felt like I was ready to push but my MD couldn't quite tell if I was at 10 yet so she stuck her hand inside me to check. That hurt LOL. I was 9.5cm at that point and DH suggested an epi when I yelped LMAO.
I should add that I was already 3CM dilated and 80% effaced for about a week when they started my induction. Good luck!!
