Yikes

Anyone use pull and pray method of Birth control? It's worked for 5 years of marriage but now I'm a bit nervous after last nights nasty.
I can't take the hormonal birth control pills due to a history of major health issues with it.
I'm worried we are going to have an accident and we are going away in June on the trip of a life time to Eroupe and it would ruin our trip.
I used a little spermocide afterwards. I hoping that killed anything....

Re: Yikes

I heard if you douche with bleach that might help. Chat Icon In the meantime, I'd remain celibate until Europe if your only method of birth control relies on prayer. Being PG would totally ruin the trip of a lifetime, and think of all the future trips with a baby--that would just s*ck.

Re: Yikes

Because we are planning on back packing and doing a lot of active things and being 5 months pregnant would not be conducive to that.
We have waited so long and saved up so long for this trip! I just want it to be perfect and like we dreamed of. I don't think it would be safe to go backpacking around Europe away from my doctors and all for so long if I was 5 months along....

not for nothing but you should have thought about that before. In my opinion it was irresponsible of you.

Re: Yikes

I agree...you are right. Dumb move. But it worked for 5 years of marriage.
I am gonna guess that nothing will come of it.
Nothing has ever happened in 5 years...
so probably worrying for nothing...

It's too late now to worry about all this unless you want to terminate if you are pregnant.

There are a lot of other forms of birth control besides the birth control pill - condoms, diaphrams, IUD's - just to name a couple. If you aren't ready to have a baby and aren't willing to use protection, the only form of birth control is abstinence.

A lot of women on this board are TTC for months-years, some are in the process of adopting after years of infertility. I'm sure it difficult for them to even consider your post anything but a joke.

I'm going to respond in case this isn't a joke. Call your ob/gyn to see about your options now. .. and dont' try the bleach method if you even remotely thought that was a serious post. Pull & pray isn't a method of birth control - if you aren't using anything beside this "method", I'd say that you're TTC.

Not true - the morning after pill is still an option depending on what hormonal issues she's had.

I guess but WHY are you worried now ??? what about all the other times ? I really think you should become more educated on Birth Control.

Re: Yikes

Im sorry if i caused any trouble. I know there are a lot of women on here trying to have babies and adopt etc. But that is why i posted this in the NFR topic. I didnt go in and post it on the TTC or Infertility Board.
I just thought this was an open forum for ALL aspects of married life- not just for people who are trying to have babies. I thought that was what the NFR board was for.
I think we should be free to talk about birth control or the fact that maybe some people don't want babies or are not ready yet for babies.
If i was wrong then i'm sorry

It is an open forum. I think it was the way you phrased it that made people think it was a joke.

In the end, I hope everything works out for you -the way you want it to go.

I don't think you were wrong to post but I don't understand why you aren't using any form of birth control when you definitely don't want to get pregnant. It seems a little irresponsible to me.

I was kidding about the bleach. If you're not taking more effective precautions than pull and pray, you are TTC, and the fact that you are so blase as to only think of your trip clearly indicates that you are too selfish to procreate. I don't blame you--I don't want a baby now either, but the methods I am using are 99.99 percent effective. Get to a doctor, get the morning after pill, have an abortion...Anything that wouldn't make you a mother at a time when you clearly aren't ready or concerned enough to be one.

Re: Yikes

you can call planned parenthood and they will just give you the pill Plan B (the one in west islip) it costs like $40 unless you have insurance and that covers it

I agree.

Most people's first post is something to introduce themselves to the boards, but to talk about "last night's nasty" and how your Europe trip would be ruined by a baby in your very first post made it seem like you were a fakie.

I hope everything works out the way you want.

Re: Yikes

Thank you all for your word of advice and encouragement. You are all very nice.
Yes, I did know the bleach thing was a joke.Chat Icon
I have only been in this country for 6 years now so please bear with me if my words sound funny or i dont write english with a lot of skill or grace.
I didn't mean to make anyone uncomfortable by jumping right in with my story about "last nights nasty". I forgot that i should have introduce myself.
Thank you all anyway!Chat Icon
I am going to look into some of the things you suggest. (Just not the bleach)!

Re: Yikes

are you ovulating? We pull and pray. If a baby happens then we are okay with that, just not ready to go crazy trying yet.

Re: Yikes

I think the reaction was based on your saying that a baby would ruin vacation. Thats a pretty childish thing to say, but your life is yours, so if a vacation , a huge one at that, is that important to you, use birth control, because it seems immature not to based on your reaction to the situation.
