Did anyone have any damage from the storm last night?

WTF 2020!?!?!? A Tornado Warning in mid-November!!!

We just had some plastic things (chairs, garbage cans, etc) blown around. No damage.

I hope everyone else faired as well.

Lots of leaves, some garbage cans blown around. Nothing out of the ordinary... The tornado alert really frightened me at the time lol

No damage but it was very disturbing. I really don't remember ever having an alert come across like that before. And of course it was just as the kids were going to bed and I had them go sit in the bathroom! Luckily they are use to lock down drills at school so I just pretended we were practicing!!

Those alerts scared the crap out of me. DD was already asleep, I made DH bring her downstairs and I wanted to take her in the basement but he insisted it was overkill. Luckily it passed quickly!

Luckily nothing. Just my patio chairs blew around but they blow around in a stiff breeze because they are so light.
DH has to get out there and shrink wrap everything for the winter and then it won't be an issue anymore.

But tornado warnings scare me doubly because we have no basement!

I was driving on the parkway when all of a sudden it got very windy and I couldn’t see a thing through the mist and my car was shaking, then I got the tornado warning alert on my phone and panicked. Every car I could see stopped on the parkway and 5 other cars and I parked under an overpass for 20 minutes until it passed. I passed 3 accidents the rest of the way home. At home some picnic chairs were cracked from being blown.

I was driving home from work, luckily I don’t live far but it was very scary, my car was very shaky and it sounded like loud howling around me. I was over by stony Brook and the weather is always a little crazy over there. Luckily it was a short ride home and no one really on the road!

Glad you are ok. But don't park under an overpass during a tornado warning, it's one of the most dangerous places to seek shelter during a tornado.

Surprisingly, other than a couple of things blown around in the yard, no damage. The way it sounded, I expected to see some damage in the neighborhood, but didn't see anything when I walked my dog this morning

I think the damage was minimal because the gusts were "only" 45 mph, and the storm front itself was moving at 50 mph (the math doesn't seem to add up, but I'm not a meteorologist, so I'm just posting what I read... Chat Icon ), so trees and buildings didn't have to deal with sustained winds, just this very fast-moving front.

Yes, this is accurate. I know it seems safer, but it is actually much more dangerous to be parked under an overpass than be out in the open. The wind can be even more ferocious under there and bigger possibilities of the overpass collapsing on you/your car, etc. No judgment- just for future reference. Unfortunately these bad weather incidences are becoming more and more common.

That's scary!

My patio furniture was blown off my patio but that was mainly it. It sounded like my house was getting a major power washing though!

Yes you are right, I have heard that being under an overpass is more dangerous. I could not see any other cars around me at the time due to the windy mist, and was worried I would hit someone or be rear ended since I could not see or be seen so in my panic I figured that the risk of being under there out of the rain and being seen by other cars might be lower than the wind tunnel effect. Who knows if I put myself in a worse situation.
