(For argument sake lets say you will definitely post on social media I know the simple answer would be just don't post on social media)

Your child attends a team competition but they go against no other team so clearly they get first place. How would you represent that on social media and how would you expect the owner of the team to represent it?

Personally I would post something like I am so proud of DC and her team!! they worked hard and did so well and though they had no one to compete against they still gave it their all.

Something along those lines but basically I would make it clear they may have got first but that's because they didn't compete against any else. For some reason it rubs me the wrong way to represent it any other way. I also don't like when the team owner/coach represents the team got first but doesn't say they didn't compete against anyone. I don't know to me its false advertising, false gloating whatever you want to call it lol

so I am wondering if its just me who feels this way and I am just crazy for even thinking like this Chat Icon Chat Icon

When I coached soccer for DC, if we "won" because it was rained out, the other team didn't show, we got a "bye", etc, I would say something humorous about our "opponent", but make it obvious that we didn't play.

I wouldn’t post it or just say my kid or the team did a great job nothing about first place or a competition because basically there wasn’t a competition.

Uh why are they giving out a placing or a win if the kids aren't competing? Chat Icon So weird! I don't think I'd say anything about winning or losing just that my kid had fun today "dancing, playing soccer, at karate" or whatever it is.

That’s be a detail I’d probably add. I appreciate details but sometimes we do look too much into things, and give way too much explanation when there’s really no need for it.

i would probably make fun of the fact that there wasn't an opponent.

sadly, too many people feel the need to edit the information to present themselves in a better light.

Glad I am not the only one to think this way.

I should add it erks me more when a owner/coach does more than a parent does it. Simply for the reason to me it make it seem like their program is one of the best when is reality we really wouldn’t know since they didn’t really go up against anyone.

I Should also put a disclaimer that I would feel this way if my child was part of this program and I personally don’t choose any program based solely on how good they rank because that can change anytime.

Clearly it’s just a big pet peeve of mine!! Chat Icon Chat Icon

I don’t know, my kids’ teams have always been so humorously bad that if they got a win by any means we would all probably be so pathetically excited that I wouldn’t have the heart to qualify it lol.
