Question for anyone who has gotten a covid vaccine
Is there a built in follow- up system or you just get the vaccine and that’s it? Meaning did you communicate any side effects or reaction you may have had? Is there an app or anything to follow up one day out, one week, etc? Did they say to test doe antibodies 6 months out? Did they say to contact someone if you end up catching covid? Does someone call you? I’m just wondering where the data on reactions etc is coming from. Is it just those that do the legwork to repost to VAERS? Thanks for answering!

Question for anyone who has gotten a covid vaccine
There's an app you can download, I think through VAERS. Every day after your vaccine they send you an alert asking if you have any side effects.

Is this voluntary? Like something you choose to do or is it automatic?

Question for anyone who has gotten a covid vaccine
I am assuming people who have severe reactions, or who end up with a break through infection, go to the doctor, and the doctor reports it. I had no reaction either time, nobody ever followed up with me but I had nothing to report. As for the antibody tests, my doctor said the regular antibody test will only be able to tell if you have COVID induced immunity, not vaccine induced immunity. The vaccine deals with the spike protein, which doesn't cause antibodies.

Question for anyone who has gotten a covid vaccine
I got a pamphlet with information on how to sign up for daily check-ins. I received a daily text message for 5 weeks where I reported my side effects. Since then I have received additional check-ins. Initially I believe they were weekly; they are now bi-weekly. I got my second dose in the beginning of February. Everyone I know who got vaccinated at a state site got the same pamphlet (Javits, Jones, Beach, and SUNY Albany).
ETA: Anyone can post on VAERS. Only people in the vaccine database can post on the site in pamphlet.

It’s totally voluntary. If you download it, you get a daily text with a link to questions about any side effects you may be having

Question for anyone who has gotten a covid vaccine
My mom received a pamphlet to sign up for daily check ins and report symptoms but we never did it because it slipped our minds. We got it from local pharmacy. I'm sure there are many who have not done so either.

Neither DH nor I received this at Javits. I honestly didn't even know there was a reporting mechanism in place but very cool that there is.

Re: Question for anyone who has gotten a covid vaccine
The app is called v-safe. I got a flyer about it from eh hospital where I go my vaccine, but I forgot to do it. Since mien was through my dr, they told me to call if I had side effects, so I don't know if hospitals also report side effects if you tell them.

Re: Question for anyone who has gotten a covid vaccine
No I wasn't told to report my side affects anywhere. I did inform my doctor how bad it was. I don't think that she did anything with the information. Then I got a bloody nose on Friday which is one of the symptoms of the blood clotting disorder so I told a friend who is very high up at a local hospital. She reported it to someone there to find out if I need to come in for testing and they never got back to her. No one cares about the side effects, they just want everyone to get the vaccine.

Question for anyone who has gotten a covid vaccine
I had my 2nd shot Saturday and nothing was mentioned about reporting side effects. I had no side effects on either shot other than a sore arm.

Good to know, get vaccinated but don't worry about any side effects.

To be honest I was very surprised. What a missed opportunity to collect and analyze data real time. Never in history have you had this magnitude of people getting vaccinated at one time. With technology today collecting and analyzing the data should be a piece of cake.

I agree. They had everyone's emails from making the appointments so they very easily could send out a survey.

This. I received a pamphlet with it. But I never got around to participating. Thankfully I had no side effects, so I guess it didn't matter that I didn't do it. I'm surprised to learn that everyone did not get this. I just assumed all locations had it.

There’s VAERS which deals with adverse reactions from any vaccine and now there’s V-Safe. It is voluntary but it’s not always information that’s said to the person receiving the vaccine, as u can see in some comments above. There are concerns that V-safe intercepts reports that would have otherwise been made to VAERS. Only if the CDC deems an adverse event reported to V-safe worthy will it be added to the VAERS database. Which can easily leave a great deal of data regarding adverse events outside of VAERS, therefore outside the public’s view. There have been attempts demanding the HHS and the CDC to add all adverse events reported through V-safe to the VAERS database because the public doesn’t have access to any information exchanged through V-Safe but we do have access to VAERS. Unfortunately these demands have gone nowhere.

And we want to vaccinate children with this stuff.
Hope your nose bleed was just a coincidence with the timing of the vaccine.

Re: Question for anyone who has gotten a covid vaccine
I did V-safe. I saw someone post about it on FB and so i signed up for it and so did my DH. Reported any side effects and got followed up text reminders. Super easy.
The side effects werent't fun but once they passed it was done. A lot has been said about possible side effects so it wasn't like i was surprised I didn't feel well. It was no big deal.
Not so different from how children sometimes react to MMR 8 days later with fever and malaise.

It is also easier to deal with the symptoms because you know you aren’t sick. There’s something about it unlike when you ARE sick and don’t know what you have, how long you’ll be feeling sick for, will your kids get it, etc.
