Vertigo anyone??
I have been extremely dizzy and sick since Saturday morning, it got worse yesterday so I went to the doc and he told me I had vertigo! When I walk I am off balance, all I can really do is lay down and keep my eyes closed, has anyone dealt with this before, any advice?

Re: Vertigo anyone??
yep i was diagnosed with benign positional vertigo a couple of years ago. There is no real treatment. it will subside on its own.It has to do with the inner ear. my doctor told me about this link when she diagnosed me. also motion sickness bands can help.

Re: Vertigo anyone??
SOmetimes vertigo can also be caused by one or two of your cervical vertabrae out of alignment. SOmetimes a chiropractor can help. It's nice to try, instead of medicating yourself.

Re: Vertigo anyone??
I have it and I take Antivert for it if it gets to bad. I try not to take it because I get so tired and the meds wipe me out for a good day. I get dizzy when i'm walking and if I look up. It's a pain because i'm 5'3" and Joe 6'3" so I can't really hug him well or i'll pass out. It s*cks but you learn to get used to it. I have tried the Chiropractor but I always get a massive headache after so I don't get my neck done. Good Luck!

That's motion sickness medication. You can buy bonine otc or something like that. Anitvert is the prescription version.

Re: Vertigo anyone??
My poor grandmother got this last year when we were in Florida away on vacation. It was absolutley horrible. She looked as if she was rocking on a boat. Her Dr. prescribed a medication Meclizine (Antivert®), but what really helped was that she went to "the balance center" (thats what its called) in Queens,on Union Turnpike..maybe there are some others out there on the island. After 2 simple treatments she was back to normal, she does do visual exercises everyday(takes about half an hour) and so far- so good.

Re: Vertigo anyone??
My daughter has vertigo. It acts up every so often. She takes antivert too I think. She also went to a balance center in Levittown. I think it helped. She still gets dizzy when looking up (like in HOme depot etc) She can't go on a boat or even watch things that move quickly.

Re: Vertigo anyone??
I have it too. I was diagnosed about 13-14 years ago. My occurances have gotten less and less. There are certain movements I know trigger mine so I avoid them. I am also very careful when I am congested to sleep more sitting up because if that fluid settles in my ears then I will have an attack. It's annoying.
Hope you feel better soon.

Re: Vertigo anyone??
This just started for me last week. It started in the middle of my exercise class that I have always taken. But i know it was not related to the exercise, as all week I have been dizzy. It is scary at times.

Re: Vertigo anyone??
I have had a recent recurrence of vertigo unfortunately. I had it constantly for about a year and a half many years ago (five or so) and was taking meclizine (the generic Antivert) everyday.
I started getting it again about 2-3 weeks ago. Very frustrating. The intensity comes and goes. I'm now seeing a neurologist for this and other issues.

you can do exercises to help it. you move your head left center then right and repeat.
i was diagnosed with it a couple of years ago. I have to watch getting water in my ears and flying in the same day.
