The whole looking for help on Craigs list was SO shady! Aren't there agencies and churches that one can go to for help?

So was it decided this was a scam?

I believe someone got in touch with the woman and its not a scam.

eta: not positive tho.

YOU did not cause any drama.....I am not sure whether she is a scammer or not but I think it is great if people decide they want to help, that is THEIR decision Chat Icon

You did the right thing by posting for someone that you thought was in a bad place and could really use help. I think it's admirable for anyone who wants to help. I never said in any responses that people shouldnt help- if that's where your heart is- then follow it. But i think, just as with everything else in life- people should be aware of all aspects of the situation and then form their opinion themselves. I find certain posters on this thread offensive (and i'm certainly not easily offended) when they tell people to go away if they dont want to help, or to leave everyone else alone. Its not about telling those people who already made up their minds to change them... its just about sharing information that you came across. To tell people to take their info (that could be helpful) and shove it is just beyond ignorant to me, and just ironic.

You did nothing wrong by posting. People did nothing wrong by helping. Other people did nothing wrong by explaining why they thought it was a scam. The only thing that was wrong was the attitude taken towards the differing opinions, but that certainly wasn't your fault. Chat Icon

I agree. I think people just got offended when other posters are telling them to stop replying to the post and "go away" Nobody has the right to tell someone what to do. Be confident in your own response and move on.

Re: PLEASE READ: If this is for real I want to help!

Just thought I would add that I have been in email contact with this woman. She said that she was working for a small day care run by a woman who had to close it because there were not enough children registered. (which goes along with the information some of the other posters found about her looking for babysitting or nanny jobs) She stated it was a good situation for her because she could bring her children. This is why she is now out of a job.

I told her that my company is hiring in the retail stores and asked her if she wanted more information and she said she would like it. I continue to believe in my heart that this woman is telling the truth.

even the lady that posted this said, she dont know wether it is true or not.all i said was,i had a bad experience in the past,i'm sorry if i said anything out of the way.it was just my opinion.we should be able to disagree.

Don't apologize.....everyone is entitled to their opinion, whether others agree or not. There are always going to be posters you agree with and posters you don't.

In one sentence you are being told not to judge and in the next you are being judged......If being a mom has taught me anything it is not to judge people. Everyone is different and does things differently and that is ok. I have not walked in your shoes, I have not been where you have been today or yesterday, nor will I be tomorrow. I will not judge so feel free (after all this is the land of freedom of speech) to say what you like and express your opion anyway you like. If I disagree I will just move on to the next post!

Hmm, I'm thinking that since it says fall and winter clothes, she needs clothing that will actually fit her DD for this Summer? I noticed she put pick up tuesday or wednesday, possibly desperate to sell the clothing to make money for essentials or for the bday?

She just sent me a pic of her DD.

but... why not sell clothes that she grew out of? And esp clothes that you're going to need in a few months? What's considered "essential" for a 1 year olds birthday? I got milk. And even that i don't remember. Because i was 1.

PS- i can send you a pic of my 'DD' too if ya want Chat Icon

I wonder if she has a camera to take pictures of the cake the child is not going to remember.

Whatever happened to good old pounding the pavement? I am not in the best situation financially and the item on the top of my can do without if necessary list is my internet connection

NO...In all seriousness its sad but CL is loaded with these types of things...

heck yeah it is... and creepy stuff TOO

when i was a single mother, and my son was about 3 I posted an ad looking for other single moms in the city to possibly hang out with... (mind you, way before LIF...)

The first reply was a guy asking me to send him my used panties.. I was so intrigued, I actually replied and asked WHY of all posts would he ask ME?

Well.....what'd he say? Lol!!!

I am getting a lot of amusement from all of you.....I just want to say I am really enjoying reading EVERYONE's opinions and if you don't want to see people replies maybe you should stop reading them.

IMO IN MY OPINION, I could do without a computer and internet I am not speaking for you or anyone else but myself.
Yes it does need to die, although I have gotten a lot of entertainment from reading all of this....oh just one more thing it would die if people didn't feel the need to respond to everyone elses posts. The above was my thought on the whole thing, you don't have to read it, like it or reply to it.
