Seriously, the patronizing should probably stop now. If you think it's a scam, great, but your Chat Icon isn't necessary like we are all idiots. I'm gonna ask the mod to lock the thread now.

I didn't know that by responding to you that i was patronizing you? Chat Icon Or, the because people disagreed with you, that the thread should be locked Chat Icon

You started out the thread by telling someone to go away because they had a different opinion than you, and ended by requesting for the thread to be locked because others tried to give you information for why the felt the way they did. Impressive. (ok, yes- that last part was patronizing- can't be perfect all the time) Chat Icon Chat Icon

i think at this point it's just a healthy conversation. I think the people that were going to donate will do so, regardless of the speculation...

It is interesting... I do plan on sending her something, just in case it is real... but I don't think anyone is truly trying to patronize...

NO...In all seriousness its sad but CL is loaded with these types of things...

heck yeah it is... and creepy stuff TOO

when i was a single mother, and my son was about 3 I posted an ad looking for other single moms in the city to possibly hang out with... (mind you, way before LIF...)

The first reply was a guy asking me to send him my used panties.. I was so intrigued, I actually replied and asked WHY of all posts would he ask ME?

Hi Im 31 years old and I'm looking for a job 3 or 4 days a week. I'm available from 9am to 2pm. I have a 6 month old daughter who is very sweet and out going and I would love to be able to bring her with me if possible. The care that I provide for YOUR child would not be compromised in anyway by me bring her with me. I have a lot of experience in handling multiple children and I have outstanding references. In fact, I have stayed friends with all of the families that I have worked with. I also have a 12 year old son and a 8 year old stepson.I'm very down to earth, caring, fun loving, honest and by no means am I a BENCH NANNY! If you would like to find out more about me please feel free to give me a call at 212-665-1185 or e-mail me and we can speak.

Thanks,
Yasmin

Which say in 2006 she has a 6 month old, 12 yr old, and a stp son, thats three kids, so how now (2 yrs later) does she still have 3 kids and a 6 month old

Your math is off -
She has a 2 1/2 year old saughter (6 mos + 2 years)
a 14 year old son (12 years + 2 years)
and a 1 year old that has been born since that ad was posted.

I didn't know that looking for a legitimate job made you a scammer....

One was a stepson - which would also account for the fact that she has two last names.

That 6 month old is now 2 1/2 (she told me via email that she has her 1 year old, a 2 1/2 year old girl and a 14 year old son)

Her 12 year old is now 14

and she has obviously since had another child, who is at the center of this debate.

I cannot account for the stepson.

Re: PLEASE READ: If this is for real I want to help!

I think everyone here is coming from a good place.

Some people want to help the woman on CL. I admire this. I think the trust and the desire to do something good is never a bad thing. It's kindness at it's finest. Even if she IS a scam artist - the outpouring of kindness may be such that she changes her heart just a little. And I simply cannot see any harm in giving from your heart. BUT the original post seemed to be asking for opinions about the legitimacy of the posting - so maybe it is a little rude to tell people not to contribute their opinions because they are negative.

Others want to help fellow posters - protect them from a potential scam and help them make what they consider to be a good choice. I admire this as well. It is fantastic that people are invested in making sure that their friends and fellow posters are not taken advantage of. Sometimes a healthy dose of cynicism is just what the doctor ordered. However - it is all in the delivery. If you continue to search and re-iterate the same feeling over and again - it sort of starts to sound as if you are denigrating the folks who are willing to take a chance. It's almost like an unspoken 'You Naive Fool' hanging round the posts. That can be hurtful to those who have made a choice to send something.

But the fact remains - whether you choose to give or don't - that you are all wonderful women and I think that you are working from your hearts to help in whatever way. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Stepson implies he was a child by marriage - marriages don't always last forever. He may no longer be a part of her life. Just puttin' it out there.

Exactly what you said.

The constant Chat Icon over every single thing that is posted is a tad annoying.

The thread isn't productive anyone, and that's why I asked for it to be locked. Not because people don't agree.

It was only posted in response to things that were humorous- not 'every single thing'. No one was laughing at you or your response- I'm sorry that you fail to see the humor in things Chat Icon

I appologize for trying to be lighthearded and use Chat Icon instead of Chat Icon like some people- i thought it was a bit more respectful and less condescending that other posts on this thread (I've attached an example in case you needed some clarification) Chat Icon

I know - that's why I said that it justifies her use of two names. I started the thread so my willingness to believe her plight is pretty concrete. Chat Icon

Wow.
I'm seriously amused by your need to help someone that *could* be scamming you, yet being completely nasty to those who were just trying to look out for you.

You've done a wonderful job of proving your character today.

The whole looking for help on Craigs list was SO shady! Aren't there agencies and churches that one can go to for help?

So was it decided this was a scam?
