I need help - regarding 2 month old sleeping
Okay - my daughter is 8 weeks old. She has been an okay sleeper up to know she would go to sleep for about 5 hours and thenwake up at 3, i feed her and then she goes right back to sleep. Getting her to sleep at the night has always been hard. anyway the past two nights all she does is cry cry cry. Nothing will console her - ALL night long. What is wrong with her. what can i do. Finally last night at 3:00 i put her in her swing and she slept for 3 hours. PLEASE ANY SUGESTIONS??

Re: I need help - regarding 2 month old sleeping
Somebody mentioned to me that they can go through a growth spurt and need more food in the middle of the night. Maybe she is hungry?

What is your sleep routine? DS is also 2 months old and I used to put him down wide awake but now I have to sometimes feed him a little more...make sure his body is relaxed...rock him for a few minutes, then put him down. If he is tense there is no way he'd go down and it turns into an hour routine. I'm also formula feeding though - not sure if that makes a difference. I agree that it might be a growth spurt because he was going 9 hours and now it's more like 7 and he's starving when he wakes up.

OH i WISH my daughter would sleep for that long. How do you do that? what is your routine? I BF and she falls asleep for a few hours and then wakes up. Maybe i should try supplementing with formula at night to get her a little more full - what do you guys think?

I did that when i BF (which didn't last long ).
When does she cry? when she's put down? or when you're holding her?

Re: I need help - regarding 2 month old sleeping
My 4 1/2 month old doesn't sleep more than 4 hour stretches. I think it's normal, but her doctor seems to think she should be sleeping 8 hour stretches. I'm nursing her, so I just assumed it was okay. My first was also that same way. I wouldn't supplement with formula, but that's just me. They will eventually sleep longer. It sounds to me like she's hungry. I would just feed her... lay down and nurse her if you can.

Well he has a cranky time - of course when I try to sit down and eat dinner , so I'll either give him a bath, or feed him some more. He never refuses a bottle! But at bedtime...which depending on if we are home is 8pm or 9pm...even if he recently ate, I'll give him about 3 more ounces right before I put him down. But I can feel it in his body, if he's tense if he's ready to go down or if he needs to be walked and rocked. He is also a belly sleeper, so I can't swaddle him, but I hold him really tight in my arms so he can't really move his arms or legs until he starts sucking the pacifier, then his body just goes into relaxation mode. I walk him for a few minutes, and put him down.
Every baby is different. It may just be a growth spurt. I nursed my dd and she definitely didn't sleep long stretches like that for a long time. I only nursed him the first few weeks then went to formula and he's a great sleeper. May just be a fluke though! Was she screaming the entire night?
