Breastfeeding Help
DD is 3 1/2 months and EBF. She normally eats from both sides equally. Today, she is only eating for a few minutes from the left side and pulling off. She then finishes from the right side. Has anyone else experienced this? Could something be wrong with one side?

Re: Breastfeeding Help
It's possible that the flow has slowed on that side. Do you have any redness, tenderness or hardening? It could be a clogged duct and she is impatient with the slower flow. DD has done that. I would try taking a hot shower and massage and see if that helps. If it is a clog, you could always pump from that side while massaging to work it out.

Re: Breastfeeding Help
I don't have any pain or redness on that side. I'll try the hot shower and massage. I did just pump and didn't get too much out of that side. Maybe, my supply has decreased on that side? Is that possible? How would I increase my supply on just one side?

Re: Breastfeeding Help
At 3 1/2 months it can be a combo of lots of things. Maybe teething, a growth spurt, sees a freckle for the first time, etc. If she's finishing eating, then that seems to be all that matters. My DS went through weird things here and there like this. As long as your breast doesn't hurt, then I wouldn't worry too much.

Re: Breastfeeding Help
Having the same problem with DS right now..........it's been happening for a few days. I have no tenderness, no soreness or redness either. I think I have always produced less on that side anyhow.
The only thing that seems to help is letting him nurse on the other side, then I let him go back to the one he kept pulling off of. I think my supply is decreasing some being back at work and it's now affecting that side more & he notices it.
Let your DC nurse on the other side and then let her try again on the she is refusing.

Re: Breastfeeding Help
You can pump on just that one side. The more you pump or breastfeed the more your supply will come in.
