Does it bother anyone else...
that their union is so pushy with their political views? Is it just my union? On the first day of school they made it clear that they were endorsing Obama, then they tried to recruit us for phone banks and fundraisers for Obama and now there are big AFT Obama posers in our faculty room. I haven't decided who I am voting for yet (even though it will most likely be Obama), but I feel this is really pushing their views onto everyone else. Am I the only one who gets annoyed at this?

Ummmm, like the UFT rep pushing the Obama button as I'm trying to check my mailbox. Just let me check my mail and leave me alone. THEN, when I don't take it, a million questions as to what is wrong with me. Am I voting for McCain?
Last time I checked, who I voted for was MY business.

OH boy YES it does and I had a fight with the Union Rep over this last year! I am NOT a democrat and will NOT support the democrats and it is non of your damn business.

I'm not sure who I am going to vote for...but regardless, i find it wrong.

it doesn't bother me, b/c the point is that they push for the candidates that support education and teachers. I think the local elections (specifically state level) are more important than the president.

It is against the Chancellors Regulations to campaign in any fashion in schools. We had a situation in our school and you CAN NOT wear any political regalia!

In the DOE....we got an email about how they were not allowed to be doing this and we could not wear campaign buttons or anything like that at work. I am so sick of them pushing their views on us...ugh!

It definitely bothers me! Even though I am pretty centrist and can go either way depending on the candidate, i find it disgraceful that the union pushes certain candidates on you. It's your choice... shouldn't we be teaching our students about making INFORMED decisions that work for the INDIVIDUAL.
