Questions about Clomid
I'm on my first month of Clomid (50mg prescribed by my OB) and I just ovulated yesterday. I was wondering if such a low dose would cause me to ovulate more than one egg, and if so would it be at the same time? I know I ovulated on my left side yesterday because I had cramps on my left side, but today I feel some cramps on my right side but not nearly as strong. Any input would be appreciated......Thanks!

Re: Questions about Clomid
Are you being monitored (sono's, bloodwork?) Do you know for sure you ovulated yesterday?

Re: Questions about Clomid
I had 1-3 follicles on Clomid. Your follicles should be moniored with ultrasound along with blood tests for your estrogen levels. Best of luck!

Re: Questions about Clomid
As the others said, you most likely will produce more than one follicle with Clomid. But, if you aren't being monitored, there's no way to know for sure.

Re: Questions about Clomid
I would NOT take Clomid and ovulate without a sono...while rare, you could produce many Follicles and thats nto safe. I know I had a 5 follicle Clomid result once and they told me absolutly not to BD and cancelled my IUI.
Im on Clomid now again and monitored closely from day 10 on.
I usually produce 1-3 follicles on Clomid.

Re: Questions about Clomid
My OB prescribed it and said it would increase the chance of twins from the normal 1% to 2%. I have the CBEFM and I ovulated yesterday and we BD'd the day before and the day of O. I'm not being monitored as of yet, I'm making an appointment to see the RE when I get back from vacation. So I'm assuming that most cases produce more than 1 follicle?

Re: Questions about Clomid
I only produced 1 follicle on 100mg of Clomid. But as everyone else said, if you're on Clomid, you REALLY need to be making sure you are having monitored cycles with CD11 bloodwork, as well as sonograms to confirm ovulation.
Clomid is a serious fertility drug, and as one of the OP said, it's possible to over-stim and produce too many follies. You need to be watched by a Dr. while on Clomid.

Re: Questions about Clomid
I was on 150mg of clomid and didnt ovulate at all so it is possible that you only had one. It depends on your fertility issues.

I didn't ovulate at all on 50mg. You should be being monitored.

Re: Questions about Clomid
Thanks for all of the advice. I wish my doctor would've explained things a little better and sent me to an RE before prescribing it. We'll see what happens.....we did BD day before and day of O so I'm hoping I only produced 1-2 follicles.
She did say she was prescribing it to shorten my cycles, not b/c I'm having any ovulation problems. Will my cycles go back to normal after this month? And if I did produce more than one follicle, would the eggs both be released at the same time, or is it possible they can be released on different days?
