Re: Jury duty-?

The only thing the employer is REQUIRED to pay in this case is $40 dollars for the first three days.
The employer is not required to pay the OP her regular salary during jury duty. Many companies may elect to do this, but they aren't required to.
I did state that above, I never said they had to pay her more then that, not sure if you thought i was saying that. i think the OP said it was in her contract though when hired
sorry but yes. and they are only required to pay you for the first 3 days. after that you apply and jury duty will then pay you $40 per day. the worst part is, if you don't serve and you just sit there, you are only good for 3 years, then they can call you again, and I'm not sure if they pay you. if you serve you are good for 7 years. You can apply and tell them that $40 a day will cause a HUGE hardship, but you will have to prove it, and they will clear you, but you can be pulled next year again.

So if I postpone it for after my surgery and then apply to be excused (due to having a newborn and being on disabilty) then I would be ok????
Can I legally reschedule for a time, I know I can not make and will have to be excused???
Is having a breast fed 2 week old and being on disabilty for major surgery ( considered disabled for 8 weeks) going to get my excused?
okay i'm a little lost. when are you scheduled to call in?? lets start there
1/30 to serve 2/2
and if you postpone you can be called as soon as aug 2 if you postpone the 6 months allowed. if at that time you do in fact have a 2 week old baby you would be excused espically do to the fact that you are home and you are a "child care provider". At that point they put it off and try you again in a year, or sometimes more.
according to your due date the baby will be almost 8 weeks old(if they call you again on Aug 2). If you are back to work by then, you won't be able to postpone, using the baby as the excuse.

I wont be back to work then...Ill be out of work for about 14 weeks.
My paperwork(summons) says, I have to pick the rescheduled date...???
So I would purposely pick a time while on disability, with a newborn at home...right?
This is all so damn confusing to me..lol

Re: Jury duty-?
She hasnt gotten past this yet? I figured she sat on it a few days now. I would just sum it up to that you are going and here are the dates you are going. She may not want to discuss it but when your called you are going... I dont see the ifs, ands, or buts in her logic... Did you even tell her there was anyway of you postponing? bc I wouldnt have let that be noted...KWIM..
