what is the recovery like after your pup was

spayed?
neutered?
what should i expect? i am soo nervous!! do they sleep most of the day, can they be picked up, any tips would be greatly appreciated!! my little girl is going in next week and i am nervous for her
how was your pups appetite?
oh, she has to get blood work too....i know we as humans are not supposed to eat b/f our bloodwork--but what about them? (my dh forgot to ask!)

Maddie was fine when she was brought to us (the day after she was spayed).

We just kept an eye on her stitches in case she tried to lick them (they didn't put a collar on her and she really didn't bother them much at all).

I seem to recall her having a normal puppy appetite.

We picked Lily up the day she was spayed. She was pretty groggy and slept for most of that day. She cried some the next day, but after that she was back to her hyper self. The biggest problem we had was keeping her calm- she did wind up pulling out a few stitches from jumping around so much, but it was no big deal and vet just put her on some antibiotics. We fed her half her usual dinner that night, then her appetite was pretty much normal after that. Don't worry- she'll be ok! I was so scared that it would hurt Lily, but she was fine!

My girl pup was miserable for about 24 hours. My boy was fine by next am. I did not use meds for either (although I did get them just in case). They both slept alot.

Only diff was my girl was trying to jump and would scream! She wound up developing fluid under her incision which just took longer to heal then.

Bruno acted high so we left him alone.
The next day he obviously felt better and had to be a conehead until he healed.
Vito was fine when he came home.
We made him be a conehead too but he wasn't going after the scar as vigorously.
Vito was hungry right away, Bruno not as much.
Just remember that it's a good thing you're doing for her .

Awww yes it was extremely scary for me as well...but she came out ok. just very groggy. She slept most of the day. She didn't seem to be in pain, and luckily didn't need that ring thing around her head. The dr will give you all the info you need...

I believe you will have to pick up their food and water the night before.

After my pup was spayed, she was extremely groggy and just slept. She didn't want to eat or drink water, and we had a hard time even getting her to take her meds. She was much more alert and hungry the next day, and acting back to normal the day after that. She had to wear the cone for a while though. You can pick them up carefully, that's fine. I don't think she was supposed to eat before the surgery, but I don't remember. You might want to call the vet and ask.

When my boy was neutered, his recovery time was WAY less. He was up and jumping around the same day. Still had to wear the cone just in case though!

We picked him up the day after he was neutered. I think he was still a bit groggy, but by the next day he was fine.

he was wagging his tail almost as soon as he woke up!!!!! he slept a lot that day and a little bit into the next day. Then he was fine, and crazy!!!!

Are vet kept our doggy overnight. When we picked her up the next day, she was totally herself. The only thing that was hard for her was the big cone on her head. She was limited to what she could do and she had to learn to eat with it on. She did fine after a few days. You just have to be careful with her stitches, and not let her run around as much as she usually does.

My dog got blood work before hand as well. I can't remember if she ate or not before it. I would call the vet and ask.

Ally slept a bit more than usual the next day or so after the surgery, but she ate fine and otherwise has recovered really quickly - she just got spayed about 10 days ago.

Both Arnold and Shelby were fine. Alittle sleepy but after 24 hours they were back to their puppy ways.
