So frustrated...feeding issues
I really need to vent and hopefully get some words of wisdom from you guys.
My DD started on Similac Advance, was having some issues so ped. recommended Good Start. She has been on Good Start for over a month now.
Here are the symptoms that occur only during the DAY (which I find strange): will take first one or two oz. no prob, starts crying like she has gas, struggles through rest of the bottle, will have to take breaks frequently, bouts of crying on and off. She very, very rarely spits up.
Here is what I have been doing: using mylicon drops usually before or after feeding, Dr. Brown's bottles, burping her a lot, giving her frequent breaks when she is struggling...I also went up to the Level 2 nipples.
Otherwise she is so happy and content, sleeps well...this is so frustrating. I can tell that she wants to eat! As I mentioned before, she doesn't seem to have these issues at night and sleeps well. I have to go back to work soon and I just want this to be better.
Called ped. today and he said to switch to Nutramagen. Has anyone used this formula? Any advice for me? Thank you for reading.

Re: So frustrated...feeding issues
My son was the exact same way in the begining difficult during the day but great at night, He had major gas issues my ped. recommended Enfamil Gentlease. Its proteins are broken down differently. Once on this he was a different baby and is still on it and does very well.

Re: So frustrated...feeding issues
DD had issues on Similac as weel and within 2 weeks of using Gentlease by Enfamil all issues were resolved. I would try EG before Nutramegen.

Re: So frustrated...feeding issues
Thank you for the responses...I am so frustrated. At least I'm sleeping at night...trying to find the positive. Reading what you've both written makes me want to try the Gentlease, but I think I will just listen to my ped first. It's so confusing.

Re: So frustrated...feeding issues
DD was the same way!! ONLY during the day and she slept like a champ at night, 6:30-7am every night! I started her on Nutramigen and noticed a difference. I sent you FM!

Re: So frustrated...feeding issues
When I switched to powder the babies had a really hard time. I went back to using RTF.
Also, I never used mylicon. I used gripe water and that seemed to work better for them. Within two weeks, the gas stopped and feeding became much easier.
