I have no clue what you are talking about... I understand that perhaps your English isn't the best and maybe you cannot get your point across. At least, I know NOW.

Yes, I am...I think that theres a lot of things that I find funny on these boards but talking about Autism is not one of them.....
I think when someone appears "slow" in any sort of way, be it posting uncomprehensible etc.... people JUMP on them ....
I dont mind it on other boards, I can ignore it etc, but here, I come here to talk about parenting, my son etc and to me its a serious thing and I feel like all the effort I put into discussing it becomes moot when this is how it ends.
Maybe I'm hormonal, but I do think its sad in this instance yes.

I didnt pinpoint you?? I didnt even see who posted what...all I did was read over what transpired since I left the thread and it appeared to me that it was to make the O/P look like a joke. Its just my opinion.
I think making fun of her posting skills and the pictures and stuff made the serious topic much less so. no idea who posted what.
Again, this is my opinion.
I hate seeing it on threads where I was seriously being genuine and debating etc.

I can't speak for commenting on her 'posting skills' but the posting of pictures, *I THINK* made a heated argument a little less heated and a little more diffused.
I hate being generalized. and you made a generalized statement that only *you* cared about the topic.
but alas... I will agree to disagree.

Your right I did, and I didnt mean it the way it came out.
I meant it as when a thread goes "bad" so to speak...I do tend to feel like when I call it out, I'm the only one who cares that a serious topic went that way ( not neccesarily talking about THIS thread anymore)....Some things really hit home with me as serious topics and I sometimes feel Im the only one who see's them as serious and needing respect....
Was more pointing out how I feel then pointing fingers at you or anyone else.
I didnt say it the right way, so I agree to disagree as well and clarify what I meant.

I would be very careful about numbers from places like Mexico and India. There are thousands and thousands of children who live on the streets. They get NO education, NO medical care, some barely have a parent.
When you have a "class'" system the very poor do not get diagnosed with anything. they are left to die and/or fend for themselves.
My beautiful nephew has autism. He barely eat ANY food so the diet does not really matter since he does not eat anything and by anything, I mean food of nearly any kind.
I do not believe that a vaccine caused his condition. I do believe that his vaccines have prevented him from getting polio, measles.
I think it is great that JM is helping to get the word out about Autism and that there are MANY ways that you can 'help" your child but to claim to "cure" is wrong. She did a wonderful thing for her child and it would be GREAT if all parents of autistic children could work for a few hours a month as a WW spokesperson, do some modeling, make enough money for private therapists and commit herself totally to this one child, and have access to UCLA medical doctors.
Most parents just do not have that set-up. They have to work full-time, don't have enough money to pay their bills let alone pay for specialists, and many have other children that they need to attend and care for as well.
So bring awareness and yell and shout that we NEED our gov't to spend money to figure this out but don't make other parents feel that their child is going to speak and read and be "cured"

This thread is getting ridiculous, because now Im getting mad because I have a child with Autism, and until you live a day in MY shoes, you cant mock any of the treatments out there. You mean to say if you have a child with Autism, that you wouldnt try something if you think it might hlep your child.
I will NOT be one of those deperat moms who will do anything, but I have done some stuff that my DAN dr. told us and I have seen improvements, as per my experience.

I think the problem with this thread, and the original poster, is that, while this is a good topic to debate and present information, she jumped down the throats of the people who expressed any doubt in Jenny McCarthy's theories and ideologies.
This is exactly the harm I see in what Jenny McCarthy is doing - while I see the good in pursuing whatever you can for your child, and trying to spark debate about the causes of autism, and advocating for greener vaccines, the message can often be lost when presented by a celebrity.
Yes, she is a mom, and I'm sure she has done her own research and there may be some valid points to what she is asserting. But, as a celebrity, she also has the potential to cause great harm by swaying parents to spend literally their life savings to pursue methods that may not be adequately researched or verified, or methods that will not work for their children.
Her words may be taken out of context by people who fail to do their OWN research, based on true medical research, and instead merely rely on the word of a celebrity. And unfortunately, though I'm sure it is not her intent, this is the kind of thing that stirs panic and has contributed to the concerning rise in fatal diseases that were otherwise under control through the use of childhood vaccinations.
At the end of the day a celebrity has a lot of power to sway masses of people who rely on their word, rather than conduct their own informative research. While I'm sure she has contributed in a positive way, I think, with that power, she needs to be particularly conscientious of the negative impact her words may also have.
