Re: swine flu
We have a vacation scheduled in a couple of weeks and am a bit worried. Already called the airline and am not required to do anything. I see Dr next week so I will ask him if there is anything I can do. I'm not doing much else at this point.

Re: swine flu
I went to the mall yesterday; I didn't even think about it until I was there. I'm kinda nuts about hand-washing and using Purell anyway. I have a dr.'s appointment next Tuesday, and no major plans to be anywhere between now and then, so I'm going to ask the dr. then, I guess, if I should be more concerned than I am.
I tend to take these things in stride, but I have to admit, I'm paying a lot more attention to the coverage because I'm pregnant.

Re: swine flu
I dont live in New York or anywhere near any infected states (so far) so I'm just living life as usual. But I can definitely understand your concern. I don't think you're crazy.

Re: swine flu
Im pretty sure that the drugs used to combat are class C and honestly if I need to take a class C drug during pregnancy than so be it. Better than not taking it right?

Re: swine flu
Lots of handwashing. Lots of purell. I disinfect all surfaces after I see a patient (I'm an SLP). I am making DH wash a lot too. I am just glad that I am working only outpatient until July and I don't have to step foot into the main hospital until then. Hopefully this will be resolved waaaaay before then.
I think the deal w/ class C drugs is that there are no studies about the effect on pregnant women, but I believe that does not mean it necessarily crosses the placenta or causes an issue. I think it's just that they do not know. I would imagine if God forbid a pregnant woman got it, they would just weigh the risk vs the benefit.
Personally if i had to take it (God forbid), I probably would. Beats the alternative.
