I agree- why is this insulting? What she is teaching is true about the NY accent. This is obviously an educational video for actors who are looking to learn the NY accent for a role.
I took phonetics in college and find it fascinating.

She is obviously making fun of us because if she wanted to teach people how to speak why on youtube? Maybe you do but I don't use youtube for educational purposes. If she wants to educate then she should make PROFESSIONAL videos or teach in a college like you said. I hope my children don't take any educational courses in school on youtube. Maybe you should look a little more in youtube so you can see what kind of videos are on there.

There are MANY videos on youtube that are educational and I think thats terrific!! You can learn to play an instrument, a ballroom dance or sign language. As many "bad" things there are on youtube, there are also many great things. I didnt watch this video inparticular but I think youtube can be used for educational purposes a lot actually.

It's not an educational course- it's an instructional video. I can almost guarantee that those clips are off a professional video. Because of some of the terms she's used in those videos, I can bet she's got a background in linguistics or speech pathology.
Many actors don't go to college to learn their craft and depend on the training seen in clips like those to learn different dialects.

yup, my neighbor watches a lot of instructional cooking videos. There are so many on youtube. If I were an actor and needed to learn something like that, youtube is a great resource, especially since its free.

There is nothing insulting about her or her instructional video. She knows too much about language and articulation and I see no intent to hurt anyone's feelings.

She should have just told people to pronounce their t's as d's and that when a word ends in er, pronounce it as uh. 
While I think it's a little absurd for us as NY'ers, that if there's really a need for it, it might prove useful.
I do think in certain sections, she was laying it on really thick and it sounded exaggerated to me. Then again, I've been told I have a very bad accent that doesn't fit Long Island anyway.
I don't find it offensive. I find it funny.

Very cool! And um, as an actor, I've taken quite a few dialect classes in my time. Taking a class how to speak in a Irish (Dublin area) accent now. Would never think learning to speak in a correct accent insulting. It's more insulting to native speakers to sound like a lucky charms commercial or a bad NY gangster movie then speaking correctly.

i'm confused as to why that would be seen as offensive? it's very instructional.
new yorkers have distinct, heavy accents. when i lived in VA for 4 years, i was made fun of mercifully. i changed the way i speak and really don't have the NY accent anymore. i pronounce my vowels "properly"--the way they're technically supposed to sound. now my family makes fun of me

no way dude... youtube is GREAT for quick little instructional videos.
I needed to know how to crimp a bead for a necklace, did a little search and VOILA! YOUTUBE VIDEO.
Same thing for imovie and photoshop tips.
maybe you should look a little more into the informational value of sites like youtube and see that it's not just mind numbing vlogs and nonsense.

But
I wish everyone could just express their opinions and say/post what they want without being criticized and/or attacked
