Need advice...WWYD?
I've been doing a lot of thinking lately and was curious to have some opinions...
I'm a slightly older mom of 2 young kids who started teaching (elementary) about 5 yrs ago. I feel the need to be around for my children as much as possible. On the other hand...I'm looking to enhance my career/pay.
I already have my masters degree but am wondering...is it worth it at this point for me to go back for another degree (in a specialty area) or should I just try to take classes (through NYSUT) and start getting my masters plus ? If I do go for a specialty area...do those credits go towards masters plus ? (I'm thinking they would). How valuable would I be to a school district with another degree vs. classes?
Like I said...I've been doing a lot of thinking (y'know...summer vacation and all). Any ideas/thoughts would be appreciated...
TIA

JMO, but I would take the in-service classes to get my Masters+. Degree-granting coursework is usually challenging (or at least time-consuming), which will take time away from your kids. In-service and grad-level courses not tracked for a degree are easier and cheaper. And if you can get a raise for doing the same job, why not go for it?

Do you have a permanent position? If so, I would just take classes to advance in the pay column.
If you don't have a permanent position...and you have the money and the will to go back for another degree...I would either go back for reading or special ed. Good luck!!!
