Those with Hip/Groin Pain...
Hi Ladies, I know that a lot of us have suffered with very bad groin or hip pain - especially when getting out of bed in the morning.
There is hope!
I went to my 28 week visit and talked to the DR about it. I didnt have this kind of pain with DS until I was 35 weeks +. This time around, it started at 20 weeks and has been killing me.
DR said that it's caused by the relaxin loosening your pelvic bones (which I think most of us know anyway). BUT, I have been sleeping on my left side which is what all of the books recommend. DR said that just makes it worse as a womans body is not made to lay that way with all of it's curves. She also said that if I can sleep on my back with no leg pain/numbness, that I should. There is not loss or reduced blood flow to baby, but you can have a reduced blood flow to your lower extremities.
As long as sleeping on our backs doesnt make our legs fall asleep, it's totally fine to do without harming baby.
I've done this the past two nights, and wake up feeling GREAT. No pain at all in the mornings!
Just thought I would share!

Re: Those with Hip/Groin Pain...
Thanks for the tip!! I also have been experiencing bad hip and groin pain with DD#2. Unfortunately, my back is a mess so I can't sleep on it or I won't be able to move in the morning!! So glad you are getting relief now!!

Re: Those with Hip/Groin Pain...
sadly, I have a lot of experience with this already. My pain started at 12 weeks.
I'm seeing a physical therapist who has made me feel completely better! As I learned, it is really not necessary to suffer so much, even in later months. All my doctors weren't concerned about it because it causes no distress on baby and usually dissipates after birth. They didn't even care too much that I could barely walk or stand or exist without some kind of pain.
I had a post about this somewhere with exercises you can do at home, to help align and strengthen muscles.
Ill find it and post. If you can afford a physical therapist, I have a great one in the city (and brooklyn) to recommend.
Laying on my back with a hard pillow under my butt helped the most. But I'm not that pregnant yet, so I don't know how it would feel in later months.

I'll start out the night on my back with a pillow under my right side so I am a little elevated, but that's thrown out of the bed pretty quickly :) then I just sleep with one pillow under my head and am on my back most of the night.
I had tried pillows between my knees, but that didnt help me too much.
It's great to wake up and not be in pain!
I hope this helps some of you!
