How are we doing?

It's been 7 months. DS is now at 4 speech per week. Still only babbles. No words! NOT ONE!

I am at loss!!!!! I don't know if he will ever talk.

Last week we went through a regression and only got a flapping and "huuh" sound while reducing the babble. But last weekend, he was back at babble. Then went to 3 syllable babble sound but it's so inconsistent.

I am gettting really worried that he will never be able to speak.

He has issues with GMI so oral imitation is non existent.

Sophie, have you discussed with your therapists about incorporating sign for requests (actual labels, not "more" or "give me") or pecs? Kids tend to develop more verbal language when paired with an augmented strategy!

DS is 3 and a half now, and up until when he turned 3 in January, he didn't talk. We would think the SAME thing, that he would never talk, but you know what? HE DID! And now he doesn't stop!

It came slowly and everyday was a new word. Your DS will get there.. it just seems to take so long because its constantly on your mind with the stress and worry. He is getting all the help and tools he needs, and once it finally clicks, he will be a talking machine!

Bryan will be 3 in Jan. He's just starting now to really repeat and say words. We started off with signing and once he got the word, the sign "disappeared".
A lot of Bry's language is still babble and some single words here and there.

Hi, My son just turned 5 and still doesn't speak. He has mastered pecs and does very little sign language. It's so hard because he understands so much but he cannot verbalize. It makes me sad to think "will he ever". He's got a great team at least and just started Kindergarten so I'm praying for a huge turnover this year.
Oh and we also use food as motivation but again words just don't come easy for him.

I know what you are going through. Christopher did very well with PECS also. Mt therapists do sign and he did really well. He is vocalizing so much, and he will try to repeat words. I think he has weak oral motor muscles. He has some words...such as mama, up, papa, book, chip. I wish he would talk more as well. Do you do any playdates?? I noticed Christopher started to try to say more when he started at Building Blocks in a program, because he was around more verbal kids.

We are starting a mommy and me class at a special needs school as soon as DS gets better so we can get the last vaccine needed for us to be accepted in the school. I am hoping that will help him.

My son didn't speak for his first 7 months of speech therapy. He doesn't stop talking now!

Mommy and me will def. help!
