Looking for a job and salary in current economy

When looking for a job in this economy, are you expecting to have to accept a smaller salary than what you were making in your previous position. It seems that things are so bad and jobs so few one should feel lucky to have any kind of offerChat Icon Is that the situation or are still striving for certain percentage bump comparing to the last held position?

Re: Looking for a job and salary in current economy

I am happy where I am, however, I anticipate having to take a pay cut if I ever leave my current position. Especially because I have a child now, I am not willing to commute to the city to work anymore, which is where salaries pay decently for my field. Although, I am sure if I took the time to look around, I could possibly find something around what I am making now in a hospital. I need to get my LMSW license first though ;).

Re: Looking for a job and salary in current economy

I was laid off for a year... could not find a single job for the type of work I was in. I had to actually go back into the medical field which is where I started years ago... I finally have a job now at a very large company in the medical field. However, I had to take a large pay cut in salary. That I am NOT happy about, but I am HAPPY that I have a job now.

I think that most people should be aware that they are most likely not going to get the same salary they had previously or even a higher salary. It's just the sad truth that we are all having to go through right now.

The medical field was, is, and will always be in demand...so keep that in mind as well.

Good luck everyone, it's a TOUGH ride out there!Chat Icon
