optimum DVR box
Does anyone else's DVR box from optimum go off all night for no reason at all?
At first I thought it was recording something, but no.
Does it receive updates all the time? Is that why it is always going off?
Last night it was out of control

I have never noticed it going "off" other then at like 1 am it says its going to hybernate or something.
I ususally turn the actual cable box to the off mode when we aren't using it. It seems to be working much better since I started this. It used to freeze up alot and give us lots of problems

Yes mine does. It probably is updating or something. Or maybe a fan keeping it cool? Don't know. But mine does.

The Fios box was soooo much worse/louder. It would wake us up all the time.

only one of my boxes is possessed...but both tend to slow down and screw up EVERY day at 4 a.m.

Mine does it - I searched online awhile ago and apparently it's the hard drive spinning up (just like your computer). It's nothing to worry about, just annoying. :p

it's the hard drive powering down. remember that the harddrive is constantly recording the previous hour...most people don't watch in the middle of the night, but it doesn't do it if you have recently used the remote in some way.
If you have something set to record - it will still record it.
