Sore throat only at night and in the morning? What is this?

I had a cold about a month ago - it never got really bad - just your typical mucuous and phlem - some congestion - a little coughing. Then I got better.

But now for the past few weeks I have a sore throat at night b/f I go to bed and in the morning when I wake up. All day long I am fine - no sore throat at all. Otherwise I am completely fine - no cough,, no congestion. etc.

What could this be?

Could be dryness. Try a cold air humidifier or even a vaporizer and see if it helps.

I agree with the PPs.

I used to drink an entire bottle of water during the night because my throat was dry and I'd wake up with a sore throat.

sounds like dehydration/dryness to me too, your probably not drinking enough for what you need.

dryness and you are probably breathing mostly through your mouth so you are taking in a lot of dry air. does your nose feel clogged?

I get this alot. You could have a post nasal drip irritating your throat while you sleep. Happens to me almost everyday and was CONSTANT during my pregnancy. I could barely sleep, I had a tickle and cough my whole pregnancy.

From my BFP until delivery (and after, still now) I had such a bad drip. I read it was from all the excess hormones causing the tissues to swell, etc. I believe it b.c it was awful!!!! I used to lay next to my bed with a vaporizer but it barely helped. So try a little steam and see what happens.

Thanks ladies - I'm going to try all these tips. I do think it has something to do with the air in here. I'm also going on a massive cleaning and dusting spree tomorrow - or at least my cleaning lady is And i think i might go see the dr. just to be sure it's not something serious

probably either post nasal drip or your house is too dry - try using a humidifier in your room

Hmm, here's a different thought nobody has suggested yet.......

Since you are pregnant, is it possible it could be acid reflux? That can manifest itself in the form of a sore throat!

That happens to me every year in Oct./Nov. when we first turn the heating on. I even get nosebleeds sometimes from the dryness caused by the radiators. I think it takes a while to adjust because the dry throat / nose really only lasts a few weeks.
