Looking for potty training advice and holding it in..
We are in the mist of potty training and it's he11. My dd is fully capable of going to the bathroom and understands it. The problem we are experiencing is her holding it in. She is holding in her urine until it's extremely painful and it's has caused a bladder infection. She'll sit on the potty for me and she will void at school for the most part - even though she does hold it in there too. I don't know what to do. I'm at a loss. Anyone have any words of advice?

Ugh, no advice but I am SO dreading this with DD since she has kidney issues and a history of UTIs AND she is very strong-willed...I dread this happening with us.

Yes. She has no problem sitting for me. It's relaxing and letting it go that is the issue.

What about trying to distract her while she sits there so that she is not concentrating so hard on peeing? Read a book, let her color a picture, let her do something while she waits?

Honestly, I do that already. I also don't ask her to go to avoid the "power struggle" and she still holds it in. I would rather tons of accidents then to see her squirming and so uncomfortable.
