Braces
DS1 is seven and has been cursed with the same crooked mouthful of teeth I had as a child. Last time we went to the dentist she said he will definitely need braces but I didn't ask much more.
If your DC has braces, when did they get them? We have another dentist appointment in a few weeks so I will ask then, but wondering if things are any different with braces now than when I was a kid.

Re: Braces
We haven't done the braces thing yet but my kids (ages 10 and 8) will also both need them.
Our dentist said to wait until the baby teeth fall out. He said that if you do it before that, it's counterproductive because when the adult teeth come in, it messes up all the work that was already done.
DS still has a couple of baby teeth so we're waiting a bit.

Re: Braces
DD not only needed braces but she needed a palate expander because there wasn't enough room for her top teeth at all !!
She still has baby teeth - 5 to be exact but now there is enough room for them all !! If we waited for all the baby teeth to fall out her mouth wouldn't have been big enough for everything, and the teeth would have taken longer, and it would have been more painful for us to move them with braces then.
My best advice, is to have the kids looked at by an orthodontist every 6 months - year, whatever they suggest. It's better to start it early sometimes to reduce the time and pain later on.
Good luck !!

Re: Braces
Both of my sons have started their orthodontic treatment. It is what you are comfortable with and what your child needs. For Both of my boys we started early. Im very glad we did. It has prevented us from having to pull as many teeth. It also depends on what your child needs done. My younger son has a "night brace" Thats right the head gear to prevent his overbite from getting alot worse. He also wears a bite plate Because his lower teeth were digging into the roof of his mouth due to his overbite he started this at 8. He wont have braces for about another year ....10.5 at that point but he will need them on for alot shorter time then if we started later.....I did go to see a few orthodontists and 3 out of the 4 gave the same plan of treatment
