PIO question
When I was trying to concieve my DC I used them a bunch of times. No problems, didnt really think they hurt or were a big deal, never got sore.
This time...OUCH. Im brusing really bad from them and have a lot of soreness.
everything is the same and I always use a heating pad after.
Thoughts?
I am getting a little freaked out about it. The only thing I can think of is that I am thinner now than I was when I was trying with my first DC. Could it be less "cushion"?

Re: PIO question
If you are putting it in your butt, make sure you are not contracting your muscle. Some people ice beforehand, but I realized I actually had a bigger knot in my muscle if I did that. So I stopped with the ice and I rubbed the area and put heat on after the injection. Good luck!!!

Re: PIO question
Its definitely the right size needles.
Im not contracting the muscle for sure, I always lean over our island and bend the leg of the side that will have the injection.
Back when I did my first IVF, the nurses said not to use ice because it doesnt allow for PIO to spread out/absorb as quickly (therefore causing the knot).
I dont know what it could be!
DH is freaked cause he sayd it looks like Ive been abused. Between that and the HORRID bruise I have on my left arm from when they took my blood a week ago...Im a mess.

Re: PIO question
the only tips I have are to sit on a heating pad first while warming up the PIO (i put it between my boobs ), after about ten minutes or so, I lean over the table and point my toe towards each other (relaxes the muscle) and remind DH to do it like a dart...sometimes he's a little too slow which is when it tends to hurt and bruise more...then I sit back on the heatingn pad and rub the PIO area to smooth it out...HTHs

Re: PIO question
I had a really hard time with the PIOs: I'm pretty thin & my butt is REALLY small.
Sorry. I think it's the worst part of the whole thing.
A note: use neosporin to help with inflammation.

Re: PIO question
What size needles are you using?
I used 18 gauge needles to draw up the PIO and then 25 gauge 1" needles to inject. Much easier than the 22 gauge, 1.5" needle. Ask your RE if you can use the smaller needle.
If you are thin and don't have a lot of fatty tissue in your butt the 25 gauge should work. Oh, and I also used Progesterone in Ethyl Oleate (PEO) which is a thinner oil so easier to inject.
Good luck!

Re: PIO question
I know I'm probably asking a stupid question...
But you are changing the drawing needle to the injection needle after you draw the PIO out of the vial right?
My husband forgot to do that once and
