Re: do you have central air?

It wasn't on our list of "must haves" for a house but the house we bought had it - OMG!!! How did I live without it? It's amazing!

Re: do you have central air?

I responded 'Other.' We are unable to get CAC due to the age of our home (1916) and lack of proper construction to hide the duct work. So, for the main floor, in 2007, we purchased and DH installed a ductless A/C system. It is a slimline quiet A/C that only requires a 3 inch hole to be made in the wall for the pipe that connects to the outside compressor. It is quiet, cold and wonderful!! We have regular wall units in the upstairs bedrooms.

Re: do you have central air?

No, but we have a large wall unit that cools the entire first floor and each bedroom has a window unit. And it gets frigid in here! As much as it would be nice to have central air, it's just fine in here without it. We're never hot, that's for sure!

Re: do you have central air?

We just had it installed since we switched to gas/forced air system anyway.

It's wonderful- when I was a kid we had NO ac in the house, I would swelter on summer nights! We had a large ac unit before we went CAC but the central air is so much nicer.

Just wondering where you purchased this system & was it easy to install?

We have no AC at all. It bothers me a lot more than it bothers my DH.

I was in the same situation until this season Chat Icon .
Now we've got three units in our apartment and enjoy them a lot. Would love to have central air, but we live in co-op and can't install it Chat Icon .

Re: do you have central air?

I grew up with central air, and DH didn't. It was one of my requirements when buying a house...a requirement that I gave in on! We have A/C units in our bedroom and in the living room. The second one is a 18,000 BTU unit that cools the lower two levels of our split. I miss central air, but we do fine without it.

Re: do you have central air?

Yes.

I grew up without it and survived just fine, though. We had a wall unit on the first floor and window units in our bedrooms... though I don't remember having AC in my room when I was very young. I think I got it in my room when I was older.

We are moving down south, though, and CAC is an absolute must for me down there. I will be working outside in the heat all day and insist on being really comfortable in the house!
