How long do you mix milk and formula?

Before you go straight to whole milk? And should you decrease the amount in the bottle when you do strictly whole milk or reduce the amount of daily bottles? My son is 11 1/2 months. Thanks!

I never did with DS. We transitioned him straight to whole milk after his 1 year appointment. Never mixed it with formula and he was fine.

I mixed because DD was a nutramigen baby and I wanted to see if her system could handle it. I did:

1/4milk, 3/4 formula
1/2 and 1/2
3/4 milk, 1/4 formula

I think I did a week for the first two and then just a couple days with the last mixture.

We decreased the amount of formula each day for 1 week and replaced it with milk in increments of 1 oz.

So day 1, 7 oz formula, 1 oz milk
2-6 oz of formula, 2 oz of milk
3-5 oz of formula, 3 oz of milk

and so on...until he was on whole milk completely.

We started with 2 oz milk, 6 oz formula for about 2-3 days. Then it was half and half, for a couple of days, then 6 oz milk, 2 oz formula for a couple of days, then all milk.

I went straight from formula to whole milk, replacing one bottle a day with milk instead of mixing them together.

I did it by increasing the milk by 1/8th every day. Abby did fine.

2oz milk - 6oz formula (2days)
4oz milk - 4oz formula (2days)
6oz milk - 2oz formula (2days)

I had plenty of formula and I wanted to make sure she wouldn't get too gassy or constipated.
