Re: Got my Salvation Army Angel today...
I had no idea about this! I did it in college...but didn't know you could do it through JCP! It kills me to know that my kids need/want for nothing and a little boy wants a coat!! Do you wrap the items before shipping???

Re: Got my Salvation Army Angel today...
I have been trying this site for days and haven't been able to get any search results to load. That page never loads. Can you pick one up in store or via a different Web site?

Re: Got my Salvation Army Angel today...
Thank you for reminding me about this. I do this every year with a group of people from work but this year I will not be around for it. I read through this post in tears and decided to take a look on the JCP website..I am so upset over all the young kids & seniors in the area that have all these basic needs and no wants
DH and I decided we weren't really going to do christmas this year. We have a baby coming in 2 weeks and figured we would save money by limiting our gifts to $100 each.. After seeing this we decided to put that money towards people that need it instead. Giving a child & senior something they need would mean more to me than any present I could get.. I already have everything I could ever want & need. I wish I could buy for every single one on here!
I am also going to post this on facebook!

Thanks so much for posting this. I participate in NY cares each year but never knew about this program. I like that it is local and i can buy more gifts since i dont have to spend any money on shipping.

Re: Got my Salvation Army Angel today...
I am so doing this. Reading their "wish" lists is making me sob. I am bringing my boys with me to shop for these children we are going to "adopt". What a wonderful opportunity to teach my boys about generosity and appreciation for what they have.
If I shop in a store (which I would like to do), how do I go about getting the packages to the families?
Do I wrap the presents also?

I don't know how it works if you pick the Angel from the list online, there is probably info on the Salvation Army website regarding this. I go through my friend who volunteers for SA and she assigned me my Angel. I am dropping off the presents, wrapped and marked with his name and ID# at a SA in Suffolk County.

Re: Got my Salvation Army Angel today...
this is such an awesome idea.
I entered in my zip code and the "needs" were car remote, PSP, and cd player. I don't even have those!! I ended up choosing a random zip code.

Re: Got my Salvation Army Angel today...
Thanks for the post ladies. I am getting teary eyed just reading this. I just adopted my angel, a 10 yr old boy and I cannot wait to shop for him. I will also go through my church to adopt a senior, I feel they are left out a lot. So nice to see so many people on LIF giving, we have such a great community!

Re: Got my Salvation Army Angel today...
I just did this!!! Thank you so much for showing me the way.
My 3 year old Angel is from Jamaica and I got him Christmas PJ's, a Sweater and a toy. JCP does free shipping to the salvation army site and you just have to put the ID in there.
Made my day!!

Re: Got my Salvation Army Angel today...
Thank you for posting. I am signing up right now. This thread is so for these families in need but also uplifting to know there are many selfless people out there who are willing to spend a little less on their own family to help those in need
to everyone who adopted an Angel

Aww, this is wonderful! I'm going to sign up now.
....they have a very limited selection...like one pair of pants in the size of the little girl I signed up for. Anyone know if I can send stuff from another website?
you can send stuff from any store/site, and you can drop off also. The only advantage of using JCP's site is free shipping (which isnt hard to find elsewhere).
My little one asked for Legos so I will need to use a different site since JCP only had storage bins for them. How would they know it's for my angel? Would I need to put his angel number somewhere in the shipping address?

I'm going to have them shipped from the websites. I guess I could include it on the first line of the address Salvation Army angel number XXXXX 123 main street etc.
