I can't believe how quickly it's all happening...
Last week Alex read a book by herself for the first time, and ever since, she's been reading anything and everything she can, from newspapers, to nutrition information on cereal boxes, etc.
And now she's doing basic math - adding and subtracting. Yesterday, while I was getting her ready for bed, she said to me, Mommy, 2 plus 2 is 4. 4 plus 4 is 8. 8 minus 4 is 4.
She's learning at such a quick rate now and it's blowing my mind! I feel like I'm a few steps behind her and never really guage her interest and abilities accurately.
I'm a little worried that she's going to be unbelievably bored in Kindergarten next year

Don't be. Kindergarten is a place where few are bored and those who are are bored because they don't care enough to to be involved.

Good point - and the feedback I got from both her teachers is that Alex has more energy and enthusiasm than anyone else, which motivates the other kids to get more involved. So, I guess, no matter what she's doing, she'll have fun, even if some of it is repetitive...

I know what you mean. I can't believe how much Nate is learning this year. He's reading everything around the house and when we go out. They are now learning the concept of fractions, which amazes me for this age.
I can't imagine what the will know by 2nd grade...lol

Yay for Alex!
I wouldn't worry about her being bored, the kids in DD's class who are more advanced get extra sheets to do during the day and for homework so they aren't bored.

Alex is super smart! Go Alex!
Like PP have said - they have lots of challenges for the advanced kids. And if it's not enough they will let you know an approach you for additional testing and discuss potentially skipping a grade if needed.
