I can't believe this is happening.... update
Last week I had some brown discharge that I thought was normal. I called the doctor yesterday morning just to check. They said they would talk to the doctor and call me back. While waiting it turned red, and has gotten worse. I have an appointment today to find out the inevitable, I just can't believe this happened. Any advice would be appreciated, I'm just so sad 
Well unfortunelty my instincts were right, I lost the baby. Thank you all so much! My DH and I are so sad, but we're not giving up. Hopefully I will be back here soon.

Many women experience bleeding in the beginning for all sorts of reasons. I know my SIL bleed on and off for abou 18 weeks.
Hang in there- all might be ok

I had the same thing happen in the begining of my PG, brown/pink discharge followed by bright red spotting. I went in to havemy levels checked and everything turned out fine. Now I'm here with 4 weeks to go.
Try not to stress yourself out too much, it could be nothing

i don't think it's inevitable that you are miscarrying. many women bleed at the beginning. some women bleed throughout their pregnancy (nervewracking, but it happens...).

Try and stay positive, my first pregnancy i bled from week 4 until week 9. And it was red blood, some women do bleed in their first trimester. 
keep your head up.
