question regarding OTC meds

DH and I routinely have trouble sleeping..for me it started when I quit smoking..DH has always had trouble..

Anyway, he and I both take benadryl or Tylenol PM to sleep..DH every night..me about once a week..

DH has taken Ambien as well, but it never works on its own. So, he usually just takes two benadryl or two or three tylenol PM.

I know the tylenol is no good to take unless you legitimately have pain because otherwise you are taking something you dont need and liver is processing it needlessly...

but do you think there are detrimental side effects to taking OTC every night???? I feel like it just can't be good..

why not just use something like unisom... its the same sleeping medcation in the tylenol pm, but without the tylenol. i know this doesn't answer the question, but if you're worried about too much tylenol, this is an option.

tylenol makes simply sleep which has the sleep meds in tylenol pm without the tylenol.
