What is best? (regarding weight training)

..just wondering what others think?

Do you think it's best to devote a whole 1/2 hours or 45 minutes to weight training a few days a week, OR doing 10-15 minutes of weights before a 1/2 hour cardio workout?

I am trying to decide how to change my body. I've been running/incline walking for a while. I feel like try very hard but have been stuck at the same weight for a while. I hate the way i look. Chat Icon

Today I did weights for 15 minutes, then ran 4 miles.

But i'm wondering if i should run one day, and the next day devote a good amount to strictly weight training?

What do YOU do? Thanks!

When I worked with a trainer she said if you only have time for one workout on a particular day (cardio or weights) you should do weight training. Building muscle burns calories after the workout.

What works best for me/my body type is rotating. 1 day cardio (running/walking) and the next day weight training/toning. When I do half-half in the same day it didn't work as well. So I try to just do an every other day type routine.

I agree about rotating. I do the treadmill, then do three different arm exercises, 3 sets of 15 each.

The next time, I do 1/2 stationary bike, 1/2 treadmill.

Then I go back to the first one, treadmill/arms. Etc. It's been working pretty well.

I get to the gym at least 3 days a week and I always do weight training for at least 30 mins, sometimes more and then follow that with a 25-30 mins cardio workout.

I do cardio first then weight training. Jillian Michaels suggests to do that and I like her. Because your body has already been working out, conditioning your body with the toning exercises is even more beneficial.
