What age do you let your child ride around the block
alone on his bike?
Cross the street without an adult? (to get a ball or something)
Play ball in the street?

Let me think...
Alone on a bike- 3rd-4th grade.
cross the street- 4-5 years old, but I live on a dead end and there's no traffic.
I let my 3.5 year old play ball on my block with his older brothers if I am outside with them. hth :)

Good question. I haven't gotten to that stage yet. DD will be 5 and I'm sure once she makes KG friends on the block I will have to consider this.

It all depends on the child & the street.
I think anywhere between 9-11 around the block. Although I haven't let my 9 year old walk to school because he has to cross a busy road.

The general rule on our street is double digits to cross the street and the ones in double digits are allowed to help the younger ones cross as long as the younger one's parent knows where they are going.
They start to leave the block once in the middle school.
When I think of how far I was allowed to go at a young age I feel bad for DD that I won't be able to let her do the same.

Def depends on the child. My oldest is 8 1/2 and I will let him ride up and down the sidewalk. He's not allowed in the street. My street can be busy though, my answer would probably be different if I was on a cul de sac or dead end. He's impulsive too so the trust is not there.

Im not at this stage yet, DD will be 5 in a few weeks. But, I know I wasnt allowed til around 10 yrs old when I was growing up, Id think about the same age I will do with DD.

Robbie just turned 10 and he still is not allowed to go around the block. We live on a quiet dead end but I still go outside when he wants to play b-ball in the street. I don't know when that will change. I am thinking when he is 11-12 and in middle school.
