BTDT mom's who delivered at Stony Brook

Did they let you have guests all day? or were the strict with visiting hours? I know they have to get a pass downstairs so I was wondering if they will deny guests?

My dad lives OOS and he wants to fly in for the birth but if they don't let guests stay a lot of the time, it might not be worth it for him to come up while I'm still in the hospital. I'm probably having a c-section dec 13 so they want to come in the night before. they need to get home before Christmas because they will be having guests, so we are trying to figure out how to do this

what are the visiting hours for maternity?

I've been there twice........they are pretty lax....too lax, if you ask me!

.your SO/DH can always go downstairs and accompany them up.

HOWEVER.......the nurses all say that if you want them to be the "bad guy," they will kick out guests after a certain amount of time or whatever you wish.




ITA with this, I was there in March and walked rt in to see my cousin...no pass or anything
I think they start at 12 or 2 can't remember exactly but go late till 8 I think. I kinda wish there were less hours

Visiting hours are 12-8pm too long if you ask me. Dads can come after 10am and stay til whenever. Its just during rounds in the am that they don't allow people in 8-10am.

Nobody bothered my visitors or anything. Actually I kind of wish they would've at one point bc it was alot a night with trying to eat dinner, nurse and entertain.

I think for this baby I might talk to nurses and try to limit visitors after 7pm for me bc at that point I was done...just wanted to relax.

thanks girls, this is what I was hoping for so in case they do come in early I at least know they can spend a decent amount of time with me at the hospital.

Can dads sleep over, or do they have to go home every night?

I delivered Ds#1 there and their policy is pretty lax like all PP's said .

Since all the rooms are private, you can pretty much have guests whenever you want. It's really nice.

DS was born at 4:00pm and I didnt get into a room until 6:30ish. Lots of my family were there from the day before waiting LOL! When I got to my room I had like 20 + people(family) in there. The nurses started to kick them out at about 9pm. I was SO tired. The next morning my mom wanted to come up early.. like 8am or something. The guard wouldnt let her. My DH went down and got her. I'm guessing I had a lot of visitors while there because the guard said to each person... wow there are a lot of you here for them! Oh well! I didnt care. My family has been in hospitals only for sad things and especially SB so it was nice for them to come for a happy occasion (for once!). If you let the nurses know you want to rest they will help kick people out!
