Clomid/iui question
I am starting a clomid/ iui cycle. My dr said that they only do a one day iui. I thought they did it a few days in a row. Do I bd after to make sure? Also do I still take my prenatals with the clomid?

Re: Clomid/iui question
As far as I know, you keep taking your prenatal. I did.
Some Drs only do a single IUI because they say there is no proof that a 2nd will increase your chances. You can BD the next day if you're feeling up to it.
I wouldn't BD the day before the IUI so you have the best possible count from DH for the actual IUI.
I'm not sure I've heard of anyone doing more than 2 IUIs in a row (mine were B2B), but I suppose its possible that some do?
ETA: Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Clomid/iui question
I agree with PP. BD the night of the IUI, but give DH at least 2 days before to 'stock' up on supply. We did B2B, but had to cancel one, because of the snow, my RE said that it is not a big deal, DH #'s were fine. Good luck!!!
PS: I am still taking prenatals, I was told to keep taking them.

Re: Clomid/iui question
I'm in the middle of a clomid/IUI cycle and my doc only does one. I asked him, and he said that I can BD after if I want, but it's not necessary. I prob will anyway to increase my chances.

Re: Clomid/iui question
If they time the IUI right, they only need to do one. Your "window" with the IUI is less than 12 hours - sperm washed for an IUI don't live longer than that inside of you. So you either get the day right, or you don't. The docs who do b2b IUIs are just hedging their bets in case they get the day of your O wrong. That's how my RE explained it to me.
I got my bfp on my first clomid/IUI cycle, with one IUI, the exact day of my O. I actually think I felt my egg burst that cycle (it's supposed to be more dramatic when you're on clomid) - a very sharp, quick cramp, about 30 minutes after I left the RE's office. What timing! And yes, keep taking your vitamins! They're just vitamins; they don't interfere with meds. Good luck!

Re: Clomid/iui question
My RE only does one IUI also. We BD the night after.
And, yes, keep taking prenatals.

Re: Clomid/iui question
I would ask for a blood test the day of the procedure.
I did several IUIs that did not work but the fourth or fifth time I asked for a blood test...and it confirmed that my hormones (as we already knew) are a bit wacky and that their estimate of when I should have the IUI was off by almost two days.
We redid the procedure two days later based on the blood test...and our girl is now snoozing in the next room. Just shows that timing can be everything!

Re: Clomid/iui question
I agree with PPs, if the IUI is timed just right all you will need is the one IUI. We did not BD before or after my IUI w/clomid on my second clomid cycle and I am currently 17 weeks pregnant, so it can happen with just one IUI...good luck!
