Anyone not satisfied with their DC"s diagnosis?
We have had many evaluations, and many different opinions. How do you know who is right?

Re: Anyone not satisfied with their DC"s diagnosis?
My dd was diagnosed when we first started the EI process. It was by a psychologist who spent maybe 20 minutes with her, and then manipulated my answers for the questionaire (while she went to the park with my dh). He kept urging me to pick a specific number score (I believe 2.5) lol. I thought that sounded good, it was in the middle lol Just like my dd I am very visual, half the time I am not even sure what the question was.
Anyway, the point being...I believe her diagnosis is not really "correct". However, at this point, it's only giving her the therapy she needs. I am not a fan of labels, I don't think a diagnosis of any sort will ever sum up any type of disorder or illness and definitely not a person. However, I try really hard to pinpoint her areas that she needs help in, and try to figure out how they can be helped. Finding my dd the right type of therapy with strong therapists is my goal. Later, finding her a classroom setting that she will thrive in.
I think things are "right", when the child is "understood" by the therapists/teachers and plans of action make sense because they are individualized. Getting to that place for me, has been really challenging.
