Ovulation and cervical mucous questions
We're trying for Baby #2, and I can't for the life of me remember any of this stuff when we were trying for #1.
If I know when I ovulated, when should we have sex? How many days before and after?
What part of my cycle will I see cervical mucous? Is it when I've ovulated, or a few days after I've ovulated? Should we have sex then?
Thanks!
ETA: I'm a long-time poster, and although most people on LIF don't know me, I still feel more comfortable creating a separate name while TTC. Supersticious and all that jazz. Thanks for understanding!

Re: Ovulation and cervical mucous questions
If you know the day which you usually ovulate, you should have sex within the 3 days before and of ovulation, and the day after (in case you ovulate a little later than expected).
You can also start BDing 5 days before.
CM is an individual thing, but usually you will have it in the days leading up to O. Some will have it until the day of O or the day after. For me, my CM ended the day before O and the day of O I would basically have almost none. With both pregnancies, I BD'd before my estimated O date. With this pregnancy, we only BD'd one day before my O date because I ended up ovulating 2 days earlier than expected.

Thank you. This is helpful. I thought CM came after. This is good to know!

Re: Ovulation and cervical mucous questions
can someone explain the BD'd before? Is that b/c it takes the sperm a while to make it up to where it's got to go? This way it's waiting for the egg to be released?

exactly. you want the sperm already in place, ready to attack once the egg is released!

Ideally you want to BD before O AND the day of and day after O. This will cover all your bases. Sperm can last 3-5 days inside the woman. Once the egg is released, it's only viable for something like 12 hours. So you want to have some sperm ready to fertilize the egg once you ovulate, but you can also BD the day you expect to O to make sure there are sperm there ready to fertilize.
