Can anyone tell me what is was like for your child at the start of ABA therapy?
My dc started at 2years 2 months and has difficulty attending. He's had great sessions so I know he's capable but lots of time he doesn't want to sit, wants to do his own thing with what they have. If he doesn't get his way he fusses and will just ignore. I would say 6 out of 10 times he has good sessions or maybe 5 out of 10. I'm dealing with pdd diagnosis and the fact that he's on the younger side of 2. He's only been in therapy for two months approx. I have seen subtle calming changes in him, more eye contact and more imaginary play & involvement in social gatherings. His attention span is limited. I'm hoping the attention span will increase in time with therapy???
What was your child like at the start of intense therapy and how old was dc? Thanks for some insight

That's really wonderful that you're seeing changes so soon!! DD was a little over 3 and a half when she started ABA therapy (same diagnosis as your DS). DD has trouble attending her therapies still (age 6.5 now) but she's also very driven to make her teachers happy. Since your DS is little still, I think it's amazing you're seeing some progress!

that is fantastic that you are noticing changes.
AJ started ABA at 18 months old (30 hours a week). he started EI with about 5 hours a week at 15 months old
he has classic autism. it is totally natural not to be able to attend.. at 4 AJ still doesnt always attend during his SEIT sessions (he gets 3 hours a week at home), the rest is done in school.
its the little things that are important right now.
