will they ever sleep through the night??!!!!!
DS & DD take turns usually. For a couple of months one of them has slept great and the other not so much. Recently they both don't sleep for anything. It is driving me nutty!! All my son does is scream. CIO doesn't work if they NEVER stop crying and fall asleep!! He had to sleep in the nap nanny for a long time due to his serious reflux issues, but now he is too big and no matter how tight i make the straps Houdini can get out of it no problem. So his nap nanny days are over for sure (he was way too old to be in there any more anyway) He wants to sleep in my bed, and to be honest I have given in a few times just because I was going to go insane if I didn't get a little sleep (my DH works midnights right now) BUT even with having him in my bed he doesn't sleep all night. He is up at least every 1 1/2 hrs and I don't know what to do anymore. DD is a spoiled little princess as well and she goes to sleep better but wakes up frequently crying and screaming and doesn't stop unless you take her out and let her fall back to sleep ON YOU, and most times when you try to put her down she pops right up and starts screaming again! I am seriously at the end of my rope. I can NOT afford for them to wake up the rest of the house either. They have woken my 4 yr old several times and then it becomes a freakin all night party! Someone please help me! I swore I would not let this happen. I was going to have good sleepers with good sleeping habits if it killed me Even right now as I type this my DS is in his crib screaming his brains out refusing to take a nap. I swear I am going to run away soon
p.s. they just turned 9 months on the 27th (although they were 2months premature) and are clearly having some serious separation anxiety issues. I can not even walk out of the room with out both of them going nuts! And of course there is teething...oh the dreaded teething taking place as well.

Re: will they ever sleep through the night??!!!!!
I have no advice as I'm in a similar situation. My twins are also 9 months and on average each get up twice a night. I'm going to loose my mind..... I'm so exhausted. They go to bed no problem but wont stay asleep. Leah just screams endlessly and is so loud that she wakes up my 3 year old so I can't just let her scream. I think maya would last longer if Leah wasn't always waking up. I was off this week from work and the plan was to figure something out to get them to sleep better but they both ended up with a stomach bug and ear infections......so there went that plan. If you find a magic solution please let me know cause I'm at the end of my rope.

Re: will they ever sleep through the night??!!!!!
The day my boys turned 9 months I did CIO and it worked. Took us 4 days in total for them to sleep 12 hrs. They were 5 weeks early so I guess adjusted they were 7.5r months. Anyway, they will be 3 in Feb. and have been sleeping awesome ever since 9 months. Good luck

Re: will they ever sleep through the night??!!!!!
CIO CIO CIO
CIO saved my sanity. I started at 4 months. It took less than a week.
There is no way I could keep up with them all day long on no sleep.
They will stop crying. They will NOT die. Everything is routine. Do it enough and they will GET it.
My boys are almost 5 month old and sleep 12 hrs. 8-8. I do not go in their room until 745am, period. At night, I put them down AWAKE but drowsy. they fuss not cry for 5-6min and then me me me me me
If I had one child, maybe I would be there rocking, shushing, cuddiling, walking the halls and soothing, but with two, they just can not be high maintenance They NEED sleep and so does Momma !

Re: will they ever sleep through the night??!!!!!
I am trying to be strong and really stick to this CIO thing but they are relentless!! AND one of them always out lasts the other and then wakes that one up. I have tried putting them in the same crib, separate cribs, nothing works! AND I can NOT afford for them to wake my 4yr old so when one starts wailing I feel like I am forced to go get them before mass chaos erupts. DH is going to be off for the next 3 nights starting tomo so maybe we can do this as a team. I will surely need the emotional support!

Kelly mine have ear infections too. Anthony has it in one ear Alyssa has a double ear infection. I am not convinced that it is the ear infections that is causing this but I am pretty sure it is NOT helping right now

Sleep training is a MUST....there is no other choice but to sleep train! If you don't. you will surely loose your mind! I started to sleep train them at 4 months and it was amazing!
Once they get into a good sleep pattern, your life will be so great!
My ds had reflux and he slept in his infant carseat in his crib for periods of time. The dr. felt that if that is what worked, then so be it!

Re: will they ever sleep through the night??!!!!!
How are their naps during the day?
I haven't done CIO yet because they've started sleeping from 9/10pm until 5/6am, then going down again until their next bottle. I'm ok with that for now.
Naps are super important. Sleep begets sleep. I have a much harder time getting them to bed at night when they haven't had good naps.
I started reading this book and it has helped a little: Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Twins
I wasn't getting that good stretch of sleep at night until I started forcing naptime during the day.

Re: will they ever sleep through the night??!!!!!
My girls CIO every night for anywhere from 2-5 minutes (they will be 9 months tomorrow).
I started CIO with them at 4 months when they moved into the crib. I knew they were capable of STTN since they did it every night starting at 6 weeks old. It was just a matter of adjusting to the new room/crib.
K initially woke up every day at 3am. I would nurse her, put her back in the crib and she'd go back to sleep until about 6:30. J would stay asleep the night.
By 5 months old both girls were sleeping 6:30-6:30 and have been on that schedule since.
My best advice is consistency. You going in there is confusing to them. They are learning as long as they keep themselves awake crying you will come in eventually and "help" them. I know it isn't easy to listen to them cry, but for me it was the ONLY thing that worked.
Naps are a different story here. Sometimes they give me a good nap but most days they don't. I just count my blessings they STTN. I feel like sleep training for naps are impossible because I wouldn't let them cry for an hour to get them to fall asleep, it would just screw up the rest of their schedule for the day.
ETA they never really "cry" in their crib anymore. It's more like a whine or complaining stating they are not happy about being in their crib, but they get over it quickly and go to sleep

Re: will they ever sleep through the night??!!!!!
Thanks ladies!! Their naps are just outright unpredictable. We have been CIO since New Years Eve at 4am when I was going INSANE!!! Sometimes they scream endlessly and others they just whine for a few mins and their out. I never really know what I am going to get just kiss them tell them I love them, tuck em in ad cross my fingers and pray for the best. It pains me to hear them scream like that but I am trying VERY hard to be strong! I know I NEED to do this for my own sanity and for their well being. If I let them they would stay up ALL day AND night!!
