Has anyone broken up the MMR shot?
I'm worried about the side effects and i don;t want to NOT give them the shot. I want to break them up in separate shots. anyone ever do this? Do you feel you did the right thing?

Unfortunately the MMR is not available separately anymore. Probably for a year or two now.

Re: Has anyone broken up the MMR shot?
In 2009 Merck said they would begin to manufacture the monovalent vaccines by 2011. But they never did....
Not sure what the status is now...

Re: Has anyone broken up the MMR shot?
I'm just very nervous to give the twins the shot due to some reactions friends have had from this. DS more so because he is so sensitive to everything. Im not nervous about Autism or anything, but other reactions to the shot. Of course i want them to have the vaccine, but i might wait until they are 18 months. I'll talk to the ped and see what our best option is.

I waited until my daughter was 2 years old. She got her chicken pox vaccine at 15 months

We gave it to DS at 19 months. I originally wanted to wait until 2 years old, but got scared because we were due to travel to another state soon (plane travel, etc).
We waited til 16 months to give the chicken pox vacc.

are you ladies happy with your decision to wait? I'm so torn but deep down i feel it would be better to wait. I think we are just going to wait.

I wish I had waited til the 24 months like I wanted to, but thankfully he's had no negative side effects and it's been about 3 months since then so I'm hoping we're in the clear.
I live in Queens and DS doesn't go to daycare so even though DH and I travel on the subways every day and can theoretically bring home lots of nasty bugs, I felt comfortable with DS not getting the vaccines earlier. I just wanted him to be within the recommended range.
More importantly, if I was living out in LI and he went to daycare, I don't think I would have waited. Why? Because there's been a measles outbreak in LI and I would worry about DS catching it (as low of a possibility as it would be).
